The Playoffs For A Real Sport Start Today...

Last game was 1963, it was torn down April-July, 1964.Big RR wrote:oldr--I don't know when the polo grounds was torn down, but I recall both the Mets and the Titans/Jets played there in the early-mid 60s (before Shea opened). I imagine it was around until the mid 60s.

Impossible. Nice as Kaufman is, is does not compare with Fenway!Lord Jim wrote:That would work for me...Guinevere wrote:Or, the alternative, a Black & Orange, Halloween Series!Sue U wrote: I'm rooting for an all-avian World Series, myself.
It would also mean that the games would all be played in two of the most beautifully designed parks in the league...
(Currently 3-1 KC, top of the third.)

Too much good NCAA football to be bothered with a girlie sport like rounders

I guess I have to stop watching. they ve lost every game I ve watched for the last 3 yrs
Re: The Playoffs For A Real Sport Start Today...
Giants up 3-0 in the bottom of the third...
I wouldn't write the Orioles off yet, but I have to say the Royals seem red hot...
They haven't been to the World Series since 1985, so maybe they're due...

I hope the Giants trounce Cardinals.

Orioles and Royals square off in Game 3 in about a half an hour... (I missed last night's Giants Cards Game 2, but getting a split on the road isn't that bad)
It's pretty much do or die time for the O's tonight...
They'd have to play like the 2012 Giants to come back from a three game deficit in the League Championship, and the chances of another team doing that in our lifetimes is not good...

You're right Meade, I stand corrected...
(Of course the Red Sox didn't also come back from a 2-0 deficit in the divisional playoffs, like the Giants did in '12...)

that redsox comeback against the Yankees was the most beautiful thing I ve seen in baseball, excepting every orioles victory ever.
time for the orioles to break the curse of angelos disrespecting brooksie now...

Re: The Playoffs For A Real Sport Start Today...
Well, they made it a little more exciting then it really needed to be...
After jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first, the Giants' bats went silent, and the Cardinals gradually clawed back to finally tie it up in the 7th...
But they finally pulled it out 5-4 in the 10th!
Giants lead the series, 2-1....
