What's a "time card" Jarl?

You'd better explain "hours worked", Jarl (or wes)

Re: What's (in) your bag.
I used to have a smaller cross-body bag that I'd purchased after my Dr. recommended I stop carrying a heavy 'handbag' because of arthritis in my right shoulder; I recently replaced it with a too-large bag that I'm thinking I'll need to downsize again soon, after making this list:
Wallet:
checkbook
driver license
MT Bar card
AAA card
Red Cross blood donor card (Hero! status)
car & health insurance cards
VISA debit card
VISA credit card
half dozen store credit cards
half dozen (or so) rewards cards (buy 10 coffees, the 11th is free!)
library card
recent receipts
random coupons
emergency $20 (US)
emergency $10 (Canadian, because I used to live close to the border)
Bag:
digital camera in case
Bose earbuds in case
Scotch lint roller (must have for dog owner who goes to court)
sunglasses, reading glasses, glass cleaner, lens cleaning cloth
purple Cross pen
roll of film (that needs developing)
fine Irish linen handkerchief
mini bottle hand sanitizer
mini maglite
Cabela's mini multi-tool
work cell phone
personal cell phone
keys
emergency ladies' 'essentials'
lip balm, eyeliner & lash curler
hair clip
Tic Tacs
8 drink chips from local bars
emegency sewing kit (very mini)
couple packs of EZ flossers
couple Dickinson's witch hazel towelettes
emergency pack 2 Motrin tablets
3 rizatriptan tablets (migraine meds - NEVER go anywhere without them!)
If I'm leaving my little town, I also throw in my Kindle, fully charged. If I'm ever stuck by the side of the road, I can read while waiting for AAA to show up.
This bag has tons of little pockets, inside and out. Unfortunately, when faced with a space, I'll generally fill it up.

Jumpin the Sark
On the morning of 21 May 2007 the ship caught fire, and burned for several hours before the London Fire Brigade could bring the flames under control. Fortunately, the ship had been largely dismantled and much of her timberwork was in storage as part of the conservation process. However, the timber planking of the tween deck, which was planned to be reused, was lost in the fire and a small proportion of the hull planks were also damaged. In addition, there was a considerable amount of distortion to the ironwork, mostly limited to the horizontal plating of the tween and main deck.
We must have been there at about the same time, rubato. No evidence of arson was ever found but your continued interest in British bums is noted. Cutty Sark is now a brilliantly executed display that generates considerable controversy.

Re: What's (in) your bag.
Meade--as I recall, there was some sort of ruling that the fire started accidentally in a vacuum cleaner left on board by the cleaners after the day's work on the restoration.

And that it is reasonably popular. From the link above, re: entrance to view the ship:
The museums at Greenwich are fabulous, it you like science or art, or both.*Due to high demand tickets may not always be available on the day to those who have not purchased in advance

We spent the rest of the day in them. Great museums. The maritime museum was especially nice considering that England has not been an important naval power in such a long time.Guinevere wrote:And that it is reasonably popular. rubato shows yet again, what levels of dumb he is capable of....
"The English set fire to it", what all of them?
"and nearly burned it up"
"We went to see it and the cab driver said "not many people interested in that.""In May 2007 the ship was dealt what was seen as a fatal blow when a vacuum cleaner left on overnight sparked a devastating fire.
As pictures of the charred remains emerged, it was feared the Cutty Sark was beyond saving: the blaze had damaged two decks and scorched much of the metal framework, causing it to buckle in many places.
But conservation work that was already under way may have ultimately been the vessel's saviour. Much of the historic cabins, deck features, hull boarding and the mast with its rigging had been removed before the fire.
The Cutty Sark Trust say just two per cent of the original material from the ship was lost in the fire.
God, how does he get out of the bed in the morning?During the past 12 months, the venue has smashed its visitor targets as well as securing the award for Outstanding New Tourism Project 2012, by the British Guild of Travel Writers.
"The interest is still very much there," said Richard Doughty, Director of the Cutty Sark for The Royal Museums Greenwich, adding that more than 3,000 people had trodden its deck this weekend.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Re: What's (in) your bag.
You were there. You didn't see "what was left of it - not much". Most of the timbers were taken away and placed into storage BEFORE the fire as the ship was already undergoing extensive refurbishment. So you didn't see any of that. The burned 'tween deck referred to (which was lost) was almost entirely a later addition put in by the display chappies to make it more user friendly some years before.
So, you having been the one who began with the hateful remark "the English" set it on fire, are shown to be er..... non-factual and er.... wrong. And it shows.

Re: What's (in) your bag.
So you're blaming spontaneous combustion? Tooo Funny!
But wait, some things do spontaneously combust. Back on the ranch the manure pile would catch fire as it rotted. So you're saying it was like a rotting English manure pile? That isn't nice, we love old boats.
You English really can be careless with nice things; like Ireland. We were very excited to see the Cutty Sark and quite disappointed at your carelessness. Not dignified of you to make such excuses.
And if you hadn't burned it up like that think how many more people could have enjoyed it?

Looks pretty well burned up there all right.
I would say that "totally engulfed in flames" is the accurate description.
