What a pity it's not boh-oh-oh-oh-gus but quite true. So much a part of my Saturday a.m. mowing the acres for so many years.

That was quick. They only quit doing the show a couple of years ago.

Very good humored fellow. He'll be missed.

This is sad; I haven't listened much after they began to air the reruns, but car talk was one of the few radio shows I tried to listen to every week.

RIP Tommy.

He is partly responsible for all of us bumping into each other on the internet.

The tribute on NPR was really nice and is worth listening to:

linky

I've listened to their show almost every Saturday of my life since graduate school - almost 20 years. I gather Tom had Alzheimer's, which explains the end of live shows two years ago. I hope he didn't suffer much; godspeed to him and blessings to Ray and the rest of the family.

I heard about this on NPR earlier. Very sad news. In the story, one of the NPR people described his laugh as "the epitome of infectious laughter"...so true. Tom and Ray could make you laugh even if--or maybe especially if--you couldn't care less about whatever car problem they were talking about. He was missed when he retired, and will be missed even more now.

You know, that was one of the first things I thought of when I heard the news.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Heartbroken. I can remember the exact time and place I first heard the guys -- driving from Cornell to DC with a dear dear friend. He said to me "I think you'll love this crazy show out of Boston NPR." He was so right. 25+ years later, I'm still listening to them.

RIP Tom. May you find the Dodge Dart of your dreams waiting for you in heaven!
