BSG, I think it odd that every man that's posted here (with the possible exception of Chicken George) agrees with you that "models" are too emaciated - size 0-4 is not attractive (except to fashion designers and mentally ill teenage girls) - curves are much better - and the only reason any halfway attractive woman (other than our sainted partners) would give us a second look is if we were kind to her guide dog.

The question is not, are women (of any shape) attracted to these men? We all know the answer to that one and that's why we are not putting ourselves out to be on calendars as God's gift to women.

The question seems to be - is that Pirelli Calendar image "attractive" to normal hetero, overweight, unattractive men. And the answer by popular referendum is "not so much".

Emphasis on the gorge.

Of all the offensive comments in this thread, this one is the most offensive. It's perfectly OK to not find her attractive (although I personally think you're nuts and she is beautiful). But to suggest that because she is a size 14 (and 5'11'') which is again, the average size for US woman and has been for decades now -- that she "gorges" herself is ignorant and mean spirited.

Merriam-Webster defines "gorge" (the verb) as follows:

Believe it or not, being fully aware of the average blah blah blah and of the shapes of the greater number of men and women including myself and spouse, I was not thinking of the "eating" gorge. I was thinking of two noun forms:

the large, narrow clefts of various kinds shown in the photo
and
a large blockage

Whatever one's opinion as to the desirability of this young lady as a "pin-up", she could not be accused of being "fat". She is (as Pirelli notes) a "plus-size" for a model. Unless of course all the 12-14 ladies are going to draw a line and claim that only women 15 and above are "plus". Or perhaps none are "plus" at all. Either position is easy to critique

What's been said is that she's a plus size model and that picture (the one discussed) ain't no pin-up. It's never been said that size 0-4 women are pin-ups, come to that (Gob probably does).

She's extra large - plumptious - a saint of a human being with lots to grab hold of - she's the Ritz, she's the Coliseum, she's about three floors of the Louvre museum. She's big in Europe (bigger than Luxembourg in fact).

Face it (if one must) the average woman isn't a pin-up - nor is the average man a hunk, a stud, an eyeful of cheesecake. I might make it on a weight-loss clinic calendar as a "before" picture.

The whole point I've been trying unsuccessfully to make is that she's NOT plus size, not even by long accepted standards!!

Marilyn Monroe was size 12/14 - note photo of her on the beach I've already posted. Yes, sizing has altered a bit in recent years, but not THAT much.

Meade, next time you go shopping, PLEASE visit the female section of a clothing store and observe that size 14 is NOT in the plus size section.

While petite (i.e., short), heavier women can purchase 14W, 16W, etc., plus sizing in any catalogue in usually size 18+, or in the alternative sized as 1W, 2W, etc.

14 is perfectly AVERAGE, except in the sick fashion world where 'women' (who by virtue of being underweight don't experience menses and are therefore more like adolescents than women) who wear clothes like a hanger does are the desired 'norm'.

You raised a point that I've noticed more and more as I grow older and wiser and which never fails to make me laugh with scorn: the phenomenon of older, overweight, sometimes balding men with diminished testosterone and the delusion that they are still as 'hot' as ever and thus the expectation that they should be able to get a younger, hotter woman for sexual play & arm candy, whilst ignoring the women in their peer group who are also similarly overweight, etc.

It boggles my mind, truly.

Yeah, I'm heavier than I should be. A strict look at height/weight charts says my wife is...but looking at her shows the clear downfall with said charts.
