I was waaaay too smart to have faith from about 7 yrs old til a couple of yrs ago. I thought people in church were weak, dumb or dishonest. and some are.

then I read a book called THE ROBE, that my better half gave me in a pile of discarded books from the library where she works. our family, my career, and my health were all pretty much destroyed by then. all my fault of course.

that story of privilege, excess, terrible mistakes, destruction, and redemption and love , it changed the way I looked at life and myself. I began to try to be kind. no faith yet, just personal change. no more arrogant worker who did the work of three guys and stepped on toes. no more guy who did what ever he wanted to. simple stuff, ha ha ha.

then an epiphany of faith, still no way I was Christian. then I read the bible and learned of the wisdom in the old testament, and the love in the new. my understanding of Christianity was much different than what jesus taught.

it was really amusing to learn that those people who preached taking every word of the bible literally were just wrong. jesus preached in parables and metaphors almost exclusively. see if you have eyes , hear if you have ears, right? free will.

the year after I found faith and love and hope was the worst year of my life. I was destroyed , utterly destroyed, a broken man.

during that time I was also re born. saved by jesus if you will.

now? the career and health thing ain t happening , but our family is whole and happy and loving. I , personally am happier than I have ever been. I thank god that I have had the last two years , and have had the chance to love and be kind to people, especially my family, but not only my family. I think I have made a difference.

of course I have free will and thought, and see the mysteries in my own way, but that s another thread....

you really can t paint an accurate picture with a broad brush

You're taking the "two" in Two religions two seriously
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
