I love it when people who've never done a thing believe they know better than the professionals who do it all the time. Shut up, Gob. You're not helping

Re: Jim, They're doing it again!!
good point meade. except that I ve batted, thrown and caught since I could walk....
in fact, when I worked with English blokes at the beach, when I was a young man, we would go to the pitching concession on the boardwalk. they were amazed that I could throw so much faster than them, and I was not a power pitcher.....
back when my vision was 20/10 I didn t miss many balls with the bat either....

I don't know about "Fizz Buzz"...
But I have before drawn the obvious analogy between this cricket thing and Fizzbin:

Re: Jim, They're doing it again!!
Rounders is a game - cricket is a sport. Each requires different skill sets. Babe Ruth would have been as awful at cricket as J P Duminy would be at rounders. Actually, JP would probably be pretty good - after all, he'd only have to hit the ball once every four pitches to be accounted almost a god of the game.
Glad to clarify that for ya!

Meade did you see this?
Nasty!!
Nasty!!
Former Test batsman Phil Hughes remains in a critical condition in hospital after a short-pitched delivery struck his skull during a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Hughes, who was playing for South Australia against his old state NSW, was felled by the bouncer from fast bowler Sean Abbott at 2.23pm on Tuesday. The ball struck him on the left side of his head, behind
After a few seconds delay, the 25-year-old put his hands on his knees, looked towards his feet, and collapsed face-first onto the SCG pitch.
As Hughes collapsed, Abbott rushed to his side along with umpires and his former teammates, calling for urgent medical attention through NSW doctor John Orchard.
Dr Orchard administered CPR and paramedics intubated him and took him to hospital in a waiting ambulance.
He immediately underwent surgery after arriving at St Vincent's Hospital, with doctors working to relieve pressure to his brain.
Hospital staff said it would not be known how successful the procedure would be for at least 24 hours and Hughes was in a critical condition and in an induced coma.

Re: Jim, They're doing it again!!
Indeed yes - I heard a story that he'd already avoided a couple of high ones, ducking under, during his 61 (was it?). As of an hour ago, still critical/induced coma(?). I'm trying to imagine Babe Ruth (or any rounders player) standing up at the plate against 100 balls or more and dealing with legal deliveries such as this. Pity because Hughes was about back in the touring side wasn't he?

Of course the pitchers in MLB can only throw the ball super slow like 80 to 100mph and never bounce it off the ground which slows the ball down.
Re: Jim, They're doing it again!!
heck, little leaguers throw 80....
Re: Jim, They're doing it again!!
Wes, as I mentioned before, (perhaps before you joined us) here in the Good Ol' US of A we have 13 year old girls who can throw as hard as pro cricket bowlers...
