For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

So far you're winning 3-1 but wait, I just scored! 3-2 and we're heading for an exciting final two minutes of the game! Oh wait - ref's disallowed the goal for offside; too many lines.

If you're looking for a good morning program, I highly recommend Morning Joe on MSNBC...

Smart, intelligent discussions of topical news with just the right blend of humor...

It's the one cable news show that can truly be called "fair and balanced"...

LJ would recommend a morning show hosted by a former GOP rep. as 'fair and balanced'.

wesw, consider listening to NPR and/or BBC radio in the mornings.

The bonus is you can go about your other household business while only your ears are involved, and not your eyes.

Well, it's co-hosted by that pinko scold control freak Mika Brzezinski...

And Joe is generally outnumbered by the thug hugging bleeding hearts who comprise the rest of the regulars...

wes--you're never going to get any unslanted news from any one source; I usually try to listen/watch/read different sources to get several viewpoints rather than rely on a single one--I even watch Fox on accession (although not very often). I used to watch CNN headline more, but since they put on Nancy Grace (probably around 8 years ago?) they're becoming more an more like the other tabloid journalists--I expect jerry springer soon.

Go to their website and sign up for their weekly emails (if you haven't already) and you can get some free access. If you "follow" the Economist on Facebook or Twitter, you also get to read the articles they post for free.

I love hearing the BBC view, I think its important to hear news about us, from a different voice (which is also why I've loved the Economist for decades).

I completely agree with you on this one Big RR...

That's why I get The NY Times home delivered, and even occasionally read articles in The Nation... 8-)

I see absolutely no value in dwelling in an ideological echo chamber where all I get is validation for what I already believe...(that's part of the reason I hang out here... 8-) )

I enjoy having my ideas and beliefs challenged by smart people who disagree with me; ( and even a not-so- smart-person 8-) )

I find it intellectually invigorating...both here and IRL...(I have a lot of conservative friends going back to my college days, but I also have a lot of liberal friends...I probably have more liberal friends then conservative friends)

I find that this interaction helps me hone and sharpen my arguments, and occasionally I actually change my mind... ;) (To give an example, while I certainly do not consider the Confederate Battle Flag inherently racist, once I learned that it had been put on state flags in the late 50s as part of Massive Resistance, I came to the conclusion that in that context it was racist and should be removed from the state flags)

I am a Reagan Conservative; I believe that the genius of free enterprise is at the heart of what has made this country what it is today; I believe in low taxes, and I'm very hardcore when it comes to national security and national defense...

But believing in limited government is not the same thing as believing in no government...

I have very little patience for the radical Randian Neo-Spencerian kamikaze Tea Party types who want to repeal The Social Contract....

That way lies ruin...

i ve always gotten my news from almost every available source. then i winnow out the truth.

i never even watched fox at all until this past summer. it was always just conservative bullies shouting people down.

it must have changed tho, or i did. still slanted right, but some really good commentators, and they have smart liberals on their shows now, and they let them speak. i was amazed.

and not just guests, they even have liberals who are regular panelists, juan Williams , to name just one. alan colmes doesn t count. he seems to be a professional patsy.

the main thing is, that fox is sometimes the only network that will even present some of the news. the other networks seem to just stick their fingers in their ears and scream LaLalalalalala when they don t like the story.
