$2.34/gal. in rural Montana as of today; I'm going in the morning to fill up my tank. I might have to go on a road trip next weekend!

Douche in NJ right off of 287S in Boonton trying to extort tired motorists on a miserable night for driving charging $2.85 (it's not even that high in CT right now) but I saw it as low as $2.26 later.

No - didn't pay it - ended up elsewhere at a still hefty for the state $2.49.

I paid $2.21 last night in South Jersey but frankly didn't look too hard for a bargain. Most places I passed were somewhere between $2.21 and $2.25.

I paid $2.71 last night but saw stations that had 2.91 and 2.99. And they had people filling up there within eyesight of a cheaper station.

I filled up today at $1.49 using fuel points. It's great while it lasts.

I am sure a good deal of the difference lies in the variation in state taxes.

Taxes are just one factor. Even though you Hoosiers pay more gas taxes than us Oregonians, your gas is quite a bit less expensive. Other big factors include how close refineries are to your state, how close the crude supply is to the refinery, the cost/quality of the crude to the refinery, and how much refining is required to sell in a particular state. But probably the most important factor is that the oil companies are trying to stick it to people who like to break single posts into multiple posts, which would explain why wesw pays more.

All four big supermarkets have announced that further fuel price cuts will take effect this week, bringing petrol ever closer to £1 a litre.

Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Asda are all reducing prices by 2p a litre on both petrol and diesel.

Tesco's price reduction will take effect immediately, while the others will cut prices on Tuesday.

It follows the recent halving of the oil price, with Brent Crude now costing less than $55 a barrel.

Six months ago it cost $115.

Asda said motorists will pay no more than 105.7p a litre for petrol, or 112.7p a litre for diesel.
