Re: john kasich for president!
I'm thinking.. "death"
Anyone else?
Anyone else?
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: john kasich for president!
smile!
it s all in good fun.
I actually saw an interview with Kasich the other night. he looked, and sounded, ready to be president. he has always been smart and reasonable and now seems to have matured. that big old black head of hair is gone at least....
yes LJ, I noticed that you mentioned him early in the carson thread, but I was on a mission. I didn t actually realize that Kasich might actually have a chance then, or was actually considering a serious run at the presidency.
he seems to be doing ok for ohio.....

Wes, I've been touting Kasich for years...
I've been a fan of his going back to when he was in Congress...
Thoughtful, articulate, and he just won a landslide re-election for governor in the must-have state of Ohio, (oh, and did I mention that he got 26% percent of the African-American vote? ..yeah, I think I did...) he'd make an excellent general election candidate against Her Hillaryness, if he can raise the money....A solid pragmatic conservative who knows how to appeal to moderates and independents...
If he doesn't get the Presidential nomination, he'd be a great VP pick especially for either Jeb or Rubio....
(In case you haven't noticed, I'm a big fan of my party paring up candidates who are popular in Florida and Ohio on the '16 ticket...

They sure look like the sharpest two in the drawer!

Re: john kasich for president!
don t over think it jim. if you have ohio, be happy.
having bush on the ticket would alienate a percentage of swing voters who just don t want another bush. Rubio s hard line on cuba would do the same, for other reasons.
if you like Kasich, go hard and go early for him. if he falls, the other choices will still be there. he doesn t seem to be the type to run a really negative campaign, so the bridges won t be burnt behind you.
I m for someone different than the usual suspects. anyone. please. I m beggin' you 'merica....

Re: john kasich for president!
Well wes, I've made clear that my number one criteria is "Can the person conceivably beat Hillary Clinton in a general election?" because if they don't meet that bar, then nothing else about them matters...I m for someone different than the usual suspects.
Contrary to the way it frequently looks, the Presidential election is not The Bozo The Clown Show...
There are no prizes for "almost winners"...
You say that you think Jeb would turn off some voters, but I think he'd bring in a helluva lot more than he'd turn off...
For starters, Jeb can easily get the 35-40 percent of the Hispanic vote that the GOP standard bearer needs...
As opposed to the 25% that Mitt "self deport" Romney received...
And as I've said before, once the national public gets to know Jeb they will judge him on his own merits and record...
He projects a lot of gravitas as a public speaker and has an outstanding record as a two term governor of Florida. Once the campaign starts in earnest, nobody is going to look at Jeb and say "oh look, it's George's brother"...(well, nobody except for hardcore Demo partisans who would never vote for a Republican anyway)

Re: john kasich for president!
there huge numbers of voters in the middle.
Re: john kasich for president!
Jeb will have to distance himself from his brother at some point in order to win the election. Wether does that by highlighting starkly different policies or taking on the missteps of his brothers administration directly. Unless Hillary makes some huge gaffes it will have to be done.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: john kasich for president!
Oh god, is the worlds most expensive dog and pony show starting already?
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
Re: john kasich for president!

It really never ends now, with all the money being poured into the system after Citizens United. I'm sure the corporate position is that you can never influence politics too much.Gob wrote:Oh god, is the worlds most expensive dog and pony show starting already?
I don't know much about Kasich, but I'm a fan at the moment because he came to Montana this past week, met with Republican legislators and schooled the Tea Party idiots for refusing to expand Medicare and leaving Montana's federal tax dollars in D.C. rather than bringing them back home to benefit uninsured Montanans.

Romney might make an ok Secretary of Commerce, but I doubt he'd take it...any I deas for secretary of state?
maybe Romney....
For State, I'd like to see someone with some foreign policy chops...
Richard Haass would be at the top of my list...
