Re: Big Bash!!!
It's a big event here O-n-W, the final of the T20 season. It's taking place in Canberra, and I managed to get the family tickets. I'm a bit pleased.

As I said, you're a jammy bugger!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Re: Big Bash!!!
Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques says his side is hoping to make the most of having the Big Bash League final in Canberra rather than in Perth.
The Sixers have been the beneficiaries of Cricket Australia's decision to schedule Wednesday night's decider against the Perth Scorchers at a neutral venue for the first time.
The Scorchers would have hosted the final as the higher-placed team, having finished second during the regular season.
The Sixers finished fourth, but earnt their spot in the final with a comprehensive semi-final victory against the top of the table Adelaide Strikers last weekend.
Henriques said his side hoped to make the most of any advantage it could get against a quality Scorchers outfit.
"To be fair, it probably suits us because otherwise we would've been away this game," Henriques said.
"We're hoping this will be like a home game for us, it's only 2½ hours from Sydney, and Perth have had to travel a long way.
"It's unfortunate they've been slightly disadvantaged, but it plays into our hands a little bit.
"We're going to have a lot more home fans here than we would have had in Perth."
Scorchers captain Adam Voges was disappointed the final was not to be held in Perth, but said it couldn't be used as an excuse.
"Yes, no doubt," Voges said. "We've known throughout the whole tournament the final was going to be played here.

Re: Big Bash!!!
Camel crickets (a/k/a cave crickets) are. However, I seem to have solved the problem with the liberal application of sticky-board traps around the basement over a couple of months or so.bigskygal wrote:Crickets are NOT nasty!
Hmmm ... "camel cricket" and "cave cricket" sound like marvelous improvements to the sport.
GAH!
Re: Big Bash!!!
When I think of nasty, I think of venomous or destructive to a home's structural integrity, which camel crickets don't appear to be. Yes, they are invasive in damp basements - but there are various ways of controlling them.
Sounds like you have yours under control, which is great.
A lot of the comments about them have to do with them being creepy because their primary defense mechanism is jumping AT a threat - surely a bit disconcerting! I happen to like most bugs with the exception of mosquitoes, cockroaches, termites and venomous spiders - those are the only insects I think of as nasty. I should have been an entomologist, probably.

So that's a big draw in Australia? Well who knew. Here it would be > 45,000 for baseball (average Dodgers home game) And Soccer draws more than 20,000 / game in tiny Portland Oregon.

There's a clue in the last article I posted, for the runbato idiot.

Amazing final, it went down to the last ball, one run needed and Brett Lee on a hat trick.
Stunning way for him to end his career, even if he didn't take the wicket.

Perth Scorchers spoiled the party for former Australia quick Brett Lee after winning back-to-back Big Bash League titles with a thrilling four-wicket triumph over Sydney Sixers in Canberra on Wednesday evening.
The Scorchers snuck home with the last ball at Manuka Oval after a cameo by England Test batsman Michael Carberry (9 off seven balls) nudged them past the Sixers' target of 148.
In a final that took numerous twists and turns, the Sixers failed in their chance to tie the match and force a super over after botching a run-out opportunity with the last ball.
Captain Moises Henriques fumbled a throw at the stumps with Yasir Arafat well short of the crease.
The match came down to Lee's final over with the Scorchers requiring eight runs.
Just when it looked like the Scorchers would get over the line with a few balls up their sleeve, Lee (3 for 25) removed Nathan Coulter-Nile and Sam Whiteman with successive balls.
"Back-to-back champions, we are very proud of that and we will enjoy tonight," the Scorchers' Shaun Marsh told Grandstand.
The match was 38-year-old Lee's last in a career that included 76 Tests, 221 one-day internationals and 116 first-class matches.
