Has Anyone Else Checked Out "Agent Carter"?
Has Anyone Else Checked Out "Agent Carter"?
The latest in the Marvel TV series, Agent Carter follows the exploits of Peggy Carter in 1946, after Steve Rogers (Captain America) is on ice...so to speak...
Very stylishly done (with high production values) and campy, in the show Peggy fights a war against late 1940's sexism, and The Russkies And Other Enemies Of America...
In the most recent episode, she kicks some serious commie ass...
It took me a couple of episodes to warm to this show, but Tati loves it...

I like it, we've watched the first few episodes and I like the characters and what they've done with them.
Always room for a kickass female lead in TV.

No wonder I never heard of it.
I very rarely tune into the "big three".
Nat Geo, Discovery, DIY, History, Military are my usual viewings.
If nothing else, I watch TIOME (The Inside Of My Eyelids, aka sleep)

I'm now binging on 'The Walking Dead' which has the first 5 seasons on Netflix. I decided to watch the first episode and expected it to be bad but it has turned out to be a good show with great characters. Last night I started season 4.

The two ABC programs I usually watch are the other Marvel show, Agents Of SHIELD and Castle....
We almost always watch new episodes of the shows we like a few days after they've been broadcast with Comcast On Demand so we can at least get to see them with fewer commercials...
The only show I'm making a point of watching when it's first being aired right now is Justified, because I can't wait a few extra days to see what happens next...

Watched the last of the Agent Carter series last night.
I hope they renew it. It succeeded where MAoS fails, a smaller tight cast, the period setting, and the story arc over a short run with no filler episodes makes much better television.

Daze, from what I've seen no final decision has been made about a new batch of episodes, but there's a good chance there may be an additional 13 episode run, based on the ratings...(the ratings weren't spectacular, but they weren't bad...there are lots of shows that get renewed with worse...)

Re: Has Anyone Else Checked Out "Agent Carter"?
I enjoyed it. I was never a comic book fan but have found myself more and more getting into these comic-inspired series - MAoS, Gotham*, and now this. Like Daisy, my gay self does enjoy seeing kickass female leads.
I hope they do renew but I'm not sure how much further they can push the original premise - after more than once taking charge in a crisis in full view of her colleagues, it would strain credibility to have them revert to asking her to fetch their coffee.
* And speaking of kickass females, I fucking LOVE Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney - she has me rooting for someone who is supposed to be one of the "bad guys" - I think probably more than the writers may have originally intended.

http://www.theverge.com/2015/5/8/857437 ... abc-marvelAgent Carter gets renewed for a second season
Along with all the other comic book-based shows lining up for fall, Deadline reports that Marvel's Agent Carter has just been renewed for a second season on ABC. Agents of SHIELD is also heading to a third season, which makes for a strong showing for the comics company's network TV outings.
"Strong reviews outweighed weak ratings"
While Carter was never the strongest show in the ratings, it did earn praise from critics while building a loyal fanbase. Starring Hayley Atwell, the series follows the eponymous Peggy Carter — first introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger — in the years after World War II.
Fans have responded well to Carter's being a strong woman, as she must balance work at SHIELD's precursor, the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR), along with unraveling a plot concerning Howard Stark. Along with Daredevil, the show is widely regarded as the best TV show in Marvel's ever-expanding stable.
Agents of SHIELD has been a bigger ratings success than Carter, though it took longer to garner positive reviews. With stronger ties the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this past season introduced the Inhumans, which paves the way for the Inhumans film in 2019. Since that's four years away, fans should hope Marvel and ABC have stories lined up at least until then.

Me neither.
I watched "Get Carter" the other day though, if that counts?

Jim originally watched it because of the name of the show. He thought it was about the adventures of Jimmy Carter...
