the grizzled general grinds his gears, red slowly creeping into his ears.
see his teeth and how they gnash, his eyes do find their former flash.

grim for battle and set for war, remembered glory in guts and gore
this general knows his time has passed, but he gallops forward to the last

at last he sees his hated foe, thru the fire and thru the smoke
he spurs his steed toward his end, faithful beast, trusted friend.

he rides hard and he rides bold, as in the glory days of old
he rides smiling to meet his end, he died smiling, upon my pen....
