The Swedish police recently released a map of 55 areas where they publicly admit to having surrendered control to the criminal gangs. These areas have long had problems with mailmen, fire trucks and ambulances being attacked when trying to enter, which has led to them routinely requesting police escort. Now it’s the police being attacked outright. A new trend is also to map out police homes and families to intimidate and discourage policework, police say.

These no-go zones are primarily so-called “exclusion areas” which is the politically correct term for the 186 ghettos that have sprung up around Sweden in the past two decades. These areas are predominantly populated by immigrants from muslim countries with low education and even lower employment rates. The exception being the enthusiastic entrepreneurs in the fields of drug dealing, protection rackets and robberies.

Since the real law doesn’t apply, the function of justice has largely been taken over by the gangs themselves, not unlike how the mafia is seen as the go-to place in rural Italy when the local police is too corrupt to serve its purpose. Unofficial courts are held and punishments are meted out based on the cultural norms of the dominant gangs. Some no-go areas even have vehicle checkpoints at the border, according to the report. Not police checkpoints, but the gangs protecting their turf from law enforcement and rival gangs.

This development would have been inconceivable only 20 years ago, and one would think this official surrender by the police would have made big headlines. This is not the case; for the most part the report is hushed up.

It can be speculated that this is due to the fact that any reporting on this could be seen as “support” for nationalist party SD that wants to restrict the vast inflow to these ghettos, which is an absolute no-no amongst the journalists and could cost them their jobs. The world’s most extreme immigration from the MENA-region must continue unchallenged, and another 100 000+ must be added annually to the ghetto gangs’ recruitment base.

Did you actually look at the report? It says absolutely no such thing. Why don't you source your quotes? Because they come from ultra-right wing anti-immigrant and neo-Nazi sites? Yeah, I really trust their take on it.

And this bombshell report has been so hushed up that it is posted publicly on the Swedish police website for everyone to read.

And it says NOTHING at all about "shariah law" being imposed anywhere. The report is about neighborhoods that have typical urban crime problems, including narcotics trafficking, theft, robbery, extortion, etc. It's no different than many other urban centers in many other countries with impoverished neighborhoods dealing with crime. (Did you ever see The Wire? While not exactly a documentary, its portrayal of inner-city Baltimore was realistic and described a virtually identical set of problems. I've seen most of the exact same thing myself in Camden.) To conflate this with "radical Islam" and imposition of sharia is complete bullshit. I wouldn't even expect this kind of crap from the Daily Mail.
GAH!

See the Snopes take on this sort of rumor for other areas as well:

They have no axe to grind and just seek to point out when reports are BS.

The Sunday Telegraph uncovered more than a dozen other instances in Tower Hamlets where both Muslims and non-Muslims have been threatened or beaten for behavior considered to be a breach of fundamentalist "Islamic norms." Victims said that police ignored or downplayed outbreaks of hate crime, and suppressed evidence implicating Muslims in them, because they feared being accused of racism or "Islamophobia."

One victim, Mohammed Monzur Rahman, was left partially blind after being attacked by a mob in Cannon Street Road, Shadwell, for smoking during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. "Two guys stopped me in the street and asked me why I was smoking," he said. "I just carried on, and before I knew another dozen guys came and jumped me. The next thing I knew, I was waking up in hospital."

A group of Muslim men attacked a 23-year-old American student, who had only been in the country for three days, after they saw him drinking on an East London street. The student suffered extensive injuries, including a smashed eye socket. The perpetrators are now in prison.

The owners of restaurants and shops in Brick Lane in Whitechapel, a popular area of London, have been warned that they faced 40 lashes if they continued to sell alcoholic products.

In Leytonstone in East London, the former Home Secretary John Reid was heckled by the Muslim extremist Abu Izzadeen who yelled: "How dare you come to a Muslim area." A four-minute video of the incident can be viewed here.

Muslim gangs have also been filmed loitering on London streets and demanding that passersby conform to Sharia law. In a series of videos, the self-proclaimed vigilantes — who called themselves Muslim London Patrol — are seen abusing non-Muslim pedestrians and repeatedly shouting "this is a Muslim area."

One video records the men shouting: "Allah is the greatest! Islam is here, whether you like it or not. We are here! We are here! What we need is Islam! What we need is Sharia!"

Come on Strop, you know those stories are all made up...

The idea that there are gangs of thugs in Western countries terrorizing and attacking people and businesses in order to try and bully them into submitting to "Sharia Law" is a complete urban myth, spread by bigots and racists...

It's every bit as ridiculous as the fairytale that a lawyer would ever file a frivolous lawsuit; it simply never happens...

Fear is the great weapon of hysterical ideologues because ignorant people are easily made to be afraid of nothing.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/ ... -zone-myth

"...Where did the story of the no-go zones come from? Daniel Pipes, a U.S. historian and political commentator, says he believes he was the first person to refer to disadvantaged French neighborhoods as no-go zones. In a 2006 article, he said the existence of the zones suggested "that the French state no longer has full control over its territory."

Pipes now says he was mistaken. In 2013, after traveling to several listed Paris neighborhoods and mainly immigrant and Muslim areas of five other European cities, he wrote: "For a visiting American, these areas are very mild, even dull. We who know the Bronx and Detroit expect urban hell in Europe, too, but there things look fine … hardly beautiful, but buildings are intact, greenery abounds, and order prevails. … Having this first-hand experience, I regret having called these areas no-go zones," he wrote.

In an e-mail to Bloomberg Businessweek today, Pipes says that a no-go zone "is a place where the government has lost control and cannot enforce the rule of law." There are, he now says, "no European countries with no-go zones." ... "

And from Daniel Pipes who has BEEN to these places and not just cut and pasted lying hysterical crap like the nut-job right has been doing:

http://www.danielpipes.org/15432/europe-no-go-zones
"... In a 2006 weblog entry, I called Muslim enclaves in Europe no-go zones as a non-euphemistic equivalent for the French phrase Zones Urbaines Sensibles, or Sensitive Urban Zones. No-go zones subsequently became standard in English to describe Muslim-majority areas in West Europe.

After spending time in the banlieues (suburbs) of Paris in January 2013, as well as in their counterparts in Antwerp, Athens, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, the Hague, Malmö, and Stockholm, however, I have had second thoughts. I found that those areas "are not full-fledged no-go zones" --- meaning places where the government had lost control of territory. No war lords dominate; Shari'a is not the law of the land. I expressed regret back then for having used the term no-go zones. ... On the one hand, West European states can intervene anywhere and at any time in their sovereign territory. As the shoot-out in Verviers and the subsequent raids elsewhere in Belgium suggest, their overwhelming advantage in force – including military, intelligence, and police – means they have not ceded control. ... "
Of course he still isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer:
"... What does one call Rotherham and Birmingham? They are not no-go zones, neither in terms of geography or sovereignty. This is where we – Emerson, others (such as Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal), and I stumbled. The English language lacks a readily-available term for this. And for good reason: I know of no historical parallel, in which a majority population accepts the customs and even the criminality of a poorer and weaker immigrant community. The world has never seen anything comparable to the contemporary West's blend of achievement, timidity, and guilt, of hugely superior power matched by a deep reluctance to use it ... " .
Many immigrant and religious minority communities throughout history have formed enclaves were their own customs were 'enforced' by social pressures and whose behavior was outside of US and state laws; The Mormon settlements in Utah and their spinoff polygamist communities up to the present, the Amish, the Hutterites, Jewish Orthodox communities, the various Hippie and Religious communes of the '70s to the present, the Nation of Islam, and too many others to name.

Whoops, you missed this bit from the apologists report;
Instead of no-go zones, I propose semi-autonomous sectors, a term that emphasizes their indistinct and non-geographic nature – thus permitting a more accurate discussion of what is, arguably, West Europe's most acute problem.

The point was addressed in my post. And the only 'apologists' are the jackasses trying to perpetuate the delusional and ignorant fear of Islam. it all sounds so much like the writings about "the Jewish Problem" in the century before the 1930s. "semi-autonomous sectors" = Jewish Ghettos. If we are lucky, in 50 years the term "anti-islamic" will have the same reaction in educated society that "anti-semitic" does today and people will recognise that idiots like you were trying to get history to repeat itself; in the worst way.

The racism towards blacks is contiguous with their racism towards Palestinians (both Christian and Muslim). And it is tied to their religion.

I'm still waiting for anyone to explain exactly how Sharia courts are any different from the various religious courts which Sue mentioned...

exist?

Because there are some folks who seem to think that it's a complete fiction invented by racists and bigots...

No, it's not a huge problem here in the US, (for reasons of history and cultural assimilation that we have discussed at length...)

But it is a very real problem in Europe...

I don't know how bad a problem it is, but to the extent that it is a problem it seems to have nothing to do with "Sharia courts" and everything to do with the inability of the civil authorities to enforce the existing laws. Perhaps it should be made clear that Sharia law cannot supersede existing civil law, but I can't see how banning Sharia courts (or Catholic Church Tribunals or Jewish battei din or any other religious courts) will do anything at all besides infringe on religious liberty.

I don't think there is an exactly valid comparison between Sharia courts and the Jewish/Catholic tribunals (or whatever they are). The latter deal with interior group membership of a religious body (do they not?). Sharia courts extend jurisdiction out in to the community in general. A Jewish tribunal or a Catholic (or Protestant) church does not seek to interfere with non-members of a specific congregation.

Sharia does not deal with interior "church" transgressions by members but with acts that it considers "blasphemous" or contra-faith committed by anybody who is a moslem out in the wider community. It encourages the enforcement (by whom?) of sharia law in a geographic area upon anyone, moslem or not, who happens to be in that location.

Our own law courts do not nicely ask citizens to come along and experience a trial and agree to punishment. Suspect are brought in against their will and subjected to trial. What makes anyone believe that a sharia court will, now or in future, not assume the same position vis-à-vis those considered to be offenders? What are the punishments "allowed" to a sharia court - fines that the victims agree upon? Community service? What sharia law requires, amongst other things, is stoning, execution, whipping and other forms of physical punishment. It remains stuck in an Old Testament mode (especially since Mohamed essentially copied the OT and enshrined it forever in Islam).

Now, I'm not going to say that a sharia court in Buttfudge CA will start stoning people. You folks (some of you) seem to think the USA is the only place in the world that exists. Europe is not the USA. It is and historically always has been a breeding ground for radical revolutionary and reactionary groups - it is a series of small countries, each one rich in large conclaves of immigrants with nowhere else to go. Sharia law there will mean - and already does mean - a hell of a lot more danger than in the USA.

There is no valid comparison between the acts of thugs against random individual citizens (usually for fun or money) and organized societal policing by committed idealogues who have (actually) the tacit if not complicit support of large sections of their own community. One has only to listen to some Islamic women speaking about the hijab to know that to them it is supremely important.

Your comparison should not be street crime vs sharia patrols but between sharia patrols and ISIS. Street crime does not seek to become the KKK, not yet the Roman curia. Europe has made a fatal error opening borders to Islam. It will succeed where it failed in the 15th century.

Splendid isolation is very splendid indeed.

For those isolated
