I didn t want to comment and ruin the beautiful moment. you chose separation of powers and our constitution over party loyalty and personal preference, not an easy thing for anyone on either side. if the right , and fox, would do the same on climate change it would be great.

I have hope that you are not alone in your party, and that Clinton s dishonesty and secretiveness will be too much for any freedom loving democrat too support. she has already thrown her weight behind the immigration orders and said that she would go even further...

come on, things like this happen all the time. Ray Rice beat his wife and was fired by the Baltimore Ravens, not because of anything involving his job, but because the wife beating didn't fit the image of the players they wanted to portray. The management reasoned that fans (who are their customers) would not like this and got rid of him. It's a business after all.

I don't know the Juan Williams case in particular, but this seems to be the same thing. You may not be bothered by what he said, but apparently management thought the demographic they are targeting would/might be, so they let him go. I've never worked in a place where I could say whatever I wanted whenever I wanted to, have you?

I don't recall Hillary weighing in on the executive Order debate (does anyone have a link to any such statements?), but she clearly has shown where she stands on the substance of those orders and has discussed how she would try to provide a path to citizenship.

His job at NPR was not to "speak his mind," but to provide fact-based news analysis. As I have said before on this topic, Juan Williams was fired not for being "controversial," but for being a bigot on the national teevee. When you start a sentence with "I'm not a bigot, but," it's pretty much a given that the next thing out of your mouth is going to expose your rabid bigotry. Attempting to make such bigotry seem reasonable is not appropriate or acceptable for someone whose position in news broadcasting requires integrity and credibility.

What he said:

Those people shouldn't be allowed! They're probably up to something, maybe! And it's totally not bigoted!

Nobody threw Juan Williams in jail for expressing his personal sentiments and he is free to talk about his bigotry all he wants on Fox, which obviously has no problem making bigotry a cornerstone of its broadcasting policy.

I spent most of my life being educated and entertained by NPR. it makes me sick to see what it has become. other than diane rheem, mara liaasson , and cartalk, I can t stand to listen to my favorite station anymore.

even "you bet your garden" has taken on a left wing , big brother aspect.

there is so much self congratulating, self serving, self important crap by shallow thinking millenials, who start every sentence with , "so", that I want to puke.

I still listen sometimes because it s still better than rush Limbaugh, which is the only other thing that I can pick up on my radio in the shed....

Whether or not NPR is biased is not even remotely the issue. An employee made public statements they believed damaged its brand, and they fired him. No other employer would be required to retain an employee who was undermining their image; why is this different?
