We used to dream of having a dining room, there were 34 of us living in a cardboard box in the middle of the road...

Not exactly Jim, you can have wealth, without giving vulgar ostentatious displays of wealth, No?

I resided in a box of residency on the docks of Liddypool a few memories ago way back then. That was prior to my affluence infection which rendered me moneyful and well considered.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Well, Mickey Mouse has been called a lot of things, but I don't remember him being called "vulgar" before...

The one's who I think really showed "poor taste" are the Mrs. Kravitz types who felt the need to gratuitously slam these parents for a harmless display of love for their child...
So no one is permitted to have an opinion? All right then.
These rude buttinskis (I think Joe's term, " narcissistic assholes" is a little harsh...I'd go with "self-righteous assholes") who felt the need to stick their tut tuting snouts into this are certainly "permitted" to do so. People are "permitted" to say all sorts of things that good taste, politeness and a sense of decorum should restrain them from saying...

And when they fail to heed this restraint, other people are also permitted to criticize them appropriately...

BTW, I would also point out that this party (again, for 220 people, both kids and adults) pumped a nice chunk of change into the local economy and provided employment for a lot of people, from the caterers and servers to Mickey and the Australian Idol crooner...

Maybe if the self-righteous prigs look at it from that perspective, their delicate "social consciences" will be less offended...

I'm quite sure referring to people who expressed an opinion on this party as "rude buttinskies" and "self-righteous prigs" is similarly well outside the bounds of good taste, politeness, and decorum.

well I think mickey mouse is horrible.

a bit of advice. don t go into a Disneyland or Disneyworld (whichever one is in kissimmi fla) orientation meeting with a pink Floyd t-shirt on. conformity and obedience are required to work at Disney. brainwashing central is Disney, hitler youth had nothing on that place...

you have to eat your meat if you want any pudding from Disney.....

If you have the money, you can spend it how you choose.
I think it's money better spent than to pay to attend one of those politico fund raisers.
But, to each his own.

And Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." - Matthew 19:24
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
