Thanks for sharing wes, that was an interesting read.

Okay....

You've lost a lung, you've had a ruptured disc in your spine, you've had lime disease , lymphoma, a bleeding ulcer, and every single medication for those problems imaginable...

Yet somehow you're a hard working handyman who perseveres above this ...

I'm sorry, but I'm going to throw the bullshit flag... ;)

Nobody has that much bad luck.... 8-)

no asshole , I was a handy man for about three months, I haven t worked since 2012, i have only told you about methadone and perhaps the doxycycline that i took for lyme for almost a year around 2002.

i am sorry bastard who works in his garden for 15 minutes and rests for 15 minutes, i work on a project for an hour then rest for an hour.

if i spend all day on here you can guarantee that i m not doing too well.

my hands have started trembling, i suppose from early onset parkinsons from the welding fumes of 20 years in a steel shop. haven t seen a doctor about it yet. haven t seen a doc in months now. i m scared to death that i m gonna lose my mind like robin Williams.

i m gonna stop before i say something that i really regret.

serenity now....

I also have a broken tailbone or dislocated, not sure, never saw a doctor about it but it happened right before I moved to MA, I have a split in my pelvis that happened in a bike wreck in high school. I fell asleep while drunk and hit the back of a parked tractor trailer. I have a fucked up shoulder from a fall on a frozen pond when I was 16. never saw a doc about that either. it wasn t worth watching my mom cry and throw a guilt trip on me about the cost, of course she went to the bars 3-4 times a week but who cares, right? it s in the past. I m two inches shorter than I used to be, the ruptured disc is not my only bad one, they are all in bad shape. when I stand up one arm hangs against my body and the other hangs about four inches off my side because I m fucking twisted like a knarled old tree. the methadone gave me dry mouth and my teeth started to rot. geez I always smoked my cocaine instead of snorting it too avoid that very problem too.

happy now? I have more, but it s too painful to discuss. leave me alone jim. if you think I m a big old liar, fine, its a free country, but I don t need your crap

oh, and I passed on the chemo because I had to go back to work, no money for three months was a serious problem . you want my surgeons name? steven wehberg at PRMC, he is fairly well known I think, he did some breakthrough work channeling hyper muscular hearts to act more like reptile hearts, I think. He is a saint in my book, he said that he would take my lung out and I would be ok, and I believed him, he was that good, and he was right. it was the Aesop robot that he used to take my lung out, and it was a rare form of non aggressive lymphoma, indolent they described it as, a good cancer to get if you get cancer they said.

anything else your lordship? I ll message you all my info if you want to check it out.

by the way, there are three posts above this in case you miss them.

you know, this really pisses me off because despite all my many faults I remained an honest man, I hid my drug use sometimes but I didn t lie cheat or steal as a rule. I was taught how to cheat by a real gambler , my dad when I was a young boy, but only so I could catch others at it , and I did catch them, and I played honest, and won, at cards and pool anyway. life? not so much until the last few years.

and I raised my son completely alone from the time he was six months old and years after that and coached his baseball teams thru all of it. we even got fourth in the state of Maryland in his last year of senior league...

and he turned out great too, I think he pulled down over 70 grand last year at 24, doing millwright work, fabbing steel and aluminium, and building world class offroad vehicles and monster trucks that are shipped worldwide, including Australia. Metal Works, Delmar de is his employer.

he was also two time state champ and two time second in state, Delaware, in the school technology stuff, he went to nationals twice, once to florida once to Colorado, he didn t place there tho, I think he got fourth one year. it was TSA I just looked at the trophy. one year he won first in problem solving and second in endurance flight, the other year he won first in state in endurance flight, balsa aircraft, and second in problem solving.....

ok, I m done, and I guess I didn t stop before I said things that I would regret, but oh well, now I m an open book to you too...

eta-not quite done yet, my son was also a three sport letterman in high school, I m looking at his triple threat award right now....

eta- oops I tell a lie, I looked at the spot on the wall and then I remembered that I took him someof his awards and trophies last week so that he could display them in his new house.... stupid lyme disease.... :)

Wes, I don't mean to be offensive, but I'm just a very cynical sort...

And to be quite frank, I find it very difficult to believe that one person could have so many things go wrong for them...

Though I suppose it could happen...

and guin, before you say anything about the nuttiness of the welding fumes parkinsons connection, it said that they caused parkinsons right on the welding rod box label and on the MSDS. I knew what I was getting into from the start....

90% of my problems were not bad luck, they resulted from poor choices, recklessness, and things that I gambled on and lost

Did you also have Beriberi and Bengi Fever?

I don't believe I've ever met anyone who was suffering from so many maladies... :?

ETA:

And on top of all of this you have a split pelvis:
I have a split in my pelvis that happened in a bike wreck in high school. I fell asleep while drunk and hit the back of a parked tractor trailer.
Hmm..okay...alriight...But there comes a time where one has to say,....

"I'm sorry, but I just ain't buyin' it..." 8-)

This is definitive proof of what I've long suspected, LJ - you have absolutely no idea how millions upon millions of Americans are living all around you in your upper middle class bubble, which is why you are always drunk on the Republican koolaid.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
