You know that there used to be a liberal wing of the Republican Party?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Please don't sell my bridge. It's my only source of income and losing it would take quite a toll on me.

LOOK OUT, BERNIE

Who knows, with a little bit of grooming Marty might become a serious contender. Hillary may now be forced into saying something that sounds like a political stance -- presidential even.

“We cannot rebuild the American Dream here at home by catering to the voices of the privileged and the powerful...” See, he's already dangling the necessary carrot-on-the-stick.

well I finally get it. I get why all these hopeless republicans are running.

it s a strategy. the democratic smear campaign was all revved up and ready to go, and all of a sudden they were blinded by the shear number of targets. they don t know who to shoot at. the flock moves in unison, darting this way and that. the Dems fire wildly at first, winging a few , causing the flock to bang wings a little, but doing no major harm to the flock. they learned from the Romney experience.

meanwhile..., Hillary is a sitting duck.

vote john Kasich!!!

eta- chafee enters and hopes to inch ahead in the polls, er, centimeter ahead? hillaryious!

Chafee is now the third no-chance candidate for the Democratic nomination to enter the contest against Hillary running at her from The Left...

If I were a part of Team Clinton, I'd be very happy about this...

Much better to have multiple candidates splitting the lefty protest/"send her a message" vote then to have all those votes going to a single candidate...

Not that any of these guys represent any serious threat to her nomination, but if there were a single lefty candidate running against her, they could cause Her Royal Clintoness some embarrassment and pressure her into positions that could do more damage to her in the general election...

To illustrate what I'm talking about:

If the vote breakdown for the New Hampshire Democratic Primary is something like this:

Clinton: 56%

Sanders: 26%

Chafee: 10%

O'Malley: 8%

The media headline the next day will be something like:

Hillary Crushes Opposition in New Hampshire Primary; Wins By 30 points"...

If on the other hand, there were just one lefty opponent, (Sanders, say) and Hillary got the exact same percentage of the vote, but the numbers looked like this:

Clinton: 56%

Sanders: 44%

The media take-away from that would be quite different...

It would be all about how a long shot, under-financed candidate was able to get 44% of the vote against The Clinton Machine....

There'd be numerous stories in the press and pundits opining on cable news about how this showed a "deep under-current of unease and dissatisfaction" with Clinton as the nominee within the party base...

No, when it comes to candidates running at Hillary from her left for the nomination, from her campaign's perspective, the more the merrier... :ok

Hillary is personally corrupt (and not just a little either) and the others are a little precious, but none of them seem like the mean lying cynical sociopaths of the GOP field.

THE CAR IS REALLY CROWDED NOW

Post by RayThom »

The "Round Mound Of Resound" will be bounding into your home town soon. That makes 14 Repugs and 4 Dems. I think they need to upgrade to a "clown van."

 :ok I've been thinking about that album every time I see the title of this thread; thanks for finally posting that, Jim! (Now I'm going to have to dig up some Firesign Theater tracks--or at least some good quotes--and post those...)

I'm a huge Firesign Theater fan...

Along with The National Lampoon, that troupe ( led by Phil Procter and Peter Bergman) really developed my savage sense of humor...(Temporarily Humboldt County is my favorite album of theirs...)

The Archie and Jug Head take off, "Porgie Tirebider and Mudhead" , the game show Beat The Reaper...

Classic stuff.... 8-)

I'm amazed at how many of their routines I can still remember...

To give a few examples:
"I was imprisoned by a faceless people for a crime of which I am not guilty and certainly did not commit, but what of that...

In me spare time, Ah've been workin' on me hobby...

Writen' a Great Prison Novel...

I began by using an ink made of parts of me own blood, but as that would not make an acceptable carbon, I acquired an electric typewriter..."
"I'm an AMERICAN...I demand to see my ambassador!

"Easily done; he's in the next cell..."
"My fellow redskins...

Speaking on behalf of The Great White Father in Washington, and All The American People...

Let me me say how much we respect you savages for your native ability to instantly adapt and survive in whatever God-forsaken wilderness we move you too...

Out there...

Sign here...

He did it!

Civilization... HO!
