WASHINGTON, (NBC) – A suspicious package prompts Capitol Police to abruptly stop and evacuate a Senate TSA hearing in progress.
During testimony, Committee Chairman Ron Johnson of Wisconsin interrupted the hearing.
He announced that Capitol Police needed to clear the floor and asked people to quickly and calmly leave the room.
NBC News has learned that a suspicious package in the Dirsken Senate Office Building prompted Capitol Police to evacuate several floors as a precaution.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Secret Service evacuated White House Tuesday because of an undisclosed threat.
The evacuation came in the middle of a press briefing by Press Secretary Josh Earnest. Reporters were were moved across West Executive drive, beside the Old Executive Office Building.
Earlier Tuesday, Capitol Police evacuated the Dirksen Senate Office Buiolding after a phoned-in bomb threat there. No bomb was found.
