Trans free US

Post by Gob »

Trans-fats are unsafe to eat and must be banned from the food supply within three years, US regulators have said.

The US Food and Drug Administration said partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs), the main source of trans-fats, are not "generally recognised as safe".

It said a ban would save lives by preventing fatal heart attacks.

Food suppliers have been required to show trans-fats information on food labels since 2006 but health experts say Americans still consume too much.

"The FDA's action on this major source of artificial trans-fat demonstrates the agency's commitment to the heart health of all Americans," said FDA's Acting Commissioner Stephen Ostroff.

"This action is expected to reduce coronary heart disease and prevent thousands of fatal heart attacks every year."
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Its a good thing.

I never bought margarine because I don't believe in drinking non-alcoholic beer (or even 'light' beer which has part of the alcohol removed), smoking 'light' cigarettes, eating vegetarian artificial meat products, or using artificial sweeteners.

Substitution just sustains the habits which make you dependent on the thing you're trying to avoid.

I thought "Not another Bruce Jenner thread". Silly me!
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Oh, go have your heart attack and stop bothering everyone. No one thinks that it should be ok to sell foods which are known to be directly harmful.

If trans-fats are banned, Bruce will have to quit his unhealthy transgender diet...

What about salt? Alcohol? Puffer fish sushi? Just to name a few.

Many things that are harmful are sold and people can either avoid them, use them in moderation, or use them to excess. And some who do the latter will suffer harm, others will not.
