$24.00 for 20 mins work is good!

Is this what is has come to for former disco superstar Nile Rodgers? Busking beside the Thames for a paltry £12.30 ($24).

Thankfully things are not as bad as that seems for the 62-year-old Chic genius and songwriter of so many 1980s hits. Rodgers had played a major festival on Sunday, the British Summer Time festival (alongside Kylie Minogue and Grace Jones), in Hyde Park and decided to hit Southbank the next morning and return to his roots with a spot of nostalgic busking in front of random members of the public. For 20 minutes Rodgers played several songs he wrote for others including Madonna's Like a Virgin, Sister Sledge's We Are Family , Diana Ross' I'm Coming Out and onlookers got a special treat when he also sang his 2013 global smash hit Get Lucky. Rodgers is notoriously reticent to sing live, especially Get Lucky, which was co-written with Daft Punk.

He then took to social media to explain why he went busking and chat about the craft. "This really was a blast today. I truly used to like busking. I made a decent living and some lifelong friends. "Busking was my only means for a while. It's a very honorable way to make a living and hone your skills."

I love it when superstars play the streets. Reminds me of that clip going around where Joshua Bell was playing in the DC Metro.
GAH!
