Mayberry Reconsidered

Post by Long Run »

Wisdom making the rounds . . .
However, it just dawned on me why Mayberry was so peaceful and quiet. The fact is “Nobody” was married.

Think about this. Everyone that comes to mind. Andy, Aunt Bee, Barney, Floyd, Howard, Goober, Gomer, Sam, Ernest T. Bass, the Darlin family, Helen, Thelma Lou, Clara, Ellie Walker, Warren…… are all single. Not one of them is married.

In fact, the only one married on the show was Otis and he stayed drunk and in jail, happy to escape his wife.

Hmmm... think about that.

I've always believed that the real solution to the same sex marriage issue was to outlaw heterosexual marriage. Now I have a study to support my opinion.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Of course there were black people (or at least one black person--in stereotyped job(s). If I recall, Opie had a black football coach.
