He's color-blind and the hair stylist told him he's blond now. He thinks people are smiling and pointing because he is now devastatingly attractive.

I'm going to try harder with this one... let's see... where did I put those responses? Ah, here they are

No, saving the ginger beer and the bottle of Chard. for tonight. Saturday is the "off the diet" day. Have lost 25lbs in the past two months since the knees stopped working very well - most of that in the past 30 days, Shed 5lbs just the last 7 days. Still losing sleep though - was up at 4 a.m. again only to find the Open Championship was on a rain delay. Thought it was cricket for a moment though.

what is this thing you call pop culture?

I know that there is a show called Zoolander, tho I ve never seen it....

....I had assumed from the title that they had finally captured a Merman and had put him on display , a la SeaWorld....

....isn t my face red.....

...I ll keep my sandy brown hair tho. it s better camouflage so that the zoolanders have a harder time tracking me down....

It rather nicely accompanies the tufts of teal armpit hair posted in a different thread.

See my post re-posted by MGM above.

Great job! 25lbs is real weight. What diet changes have you made? OK, your recent lack of cogency is forgiven until you reach your target weight then its 'game on'. Agreed?

How many more lbs are you going for?

Thanks (er, yes, thanks). Rather prosaic changes really..... SlimFast for breakfast and evening about 7pm. Something healthy for lunch - salmon n'greens - and not too much of it either. No alcohol other than Saturday. Regrettably, while those have contributed much, I'm afraid it's the lack of sleep and some muscle atrophy as a result of the osteoarthritis that accounts for some of the loss.

I would love to weigh 160lbs again (when I was 25 and the diet was mostly ice cream and beer and nothing) but that's probably unhealthy. Target - well certainly below 200 and at present 190 looks reachable. But I have to get the knees replaced and take up activity to build muscle instead of just accumulating chubblies.

Oh game on whenever... I don't need to be coherent to make you look lost

If incoherence is the price of believing in yourself then ... well ... just be yourself then.

Sorry about the osteoarthritis. Pretty bad break. Not as bad as rheumatoid arth., but bad enough.

Congrats Meade, that's terrific work!

I'm down 10, and my clothes fit so much better already, but I eat real food -- really good real food, too. I cannot exist on the liquid so-called "meals" it just kills me and makes me crabby. I'd let too many old bad habits sneak back into my diet (including mindlessness eating -- too fast, in cars, at desks, etc), and my time in Paris really reminded me how good it feels to eat good food in the right setting. I'm back to cooking more (especially on the weekends - today I have a rubbed pastured brisket going low and slow in the crock for 10 hours with some homemade BBQ sauce -- to eat warm on its over, over greens, or a half a sweet potato). I'm also eating more salads (which I don't really love unless someone makes one for me), eating out less (especially breakfast -- I can find 10 minutes to sit and ENJOY my coffee and egg), and working harder at making my workouts a higher priority than they have been the last two years.

A little less wine during the week is also part of the plan, and so far, so good. But I'm having sangria tonight with my BBQ, a fresh corn salad, and some kind of greens! :nana

oops....

sorry meade. I stopped reading after "ginger beer", and I missed the back end of your post.

hang in there. getting back to a more normal body is a good feeling, even if you have to go thru a lot of other crap to get there.

We can learn a lot about how to live better. Lunch is considered a cultural treasure in France, and the main reason we went there. We had stopped in St Pierre and Miquelon a French Island off the coast of Canada on the way south from Newfoundland to NYC (avoid it) and had a transformative experience over a 2-hour lunch.

I agree with eating real food. It's not so hard. And we are blessed with fantastic fresh fruits and vegetables 12-months of the year here. Many are local but shipping is so cheap and reliable that when we lived in Portland we could buy apples from New Zealand for the same price as Hood River.

I had to cut out the wine for dinner during the week, other than special occasions, to maintain BW but the tradeoff is a lot lower grocery bills.
