In the meantime, in a real game...

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

74,000 + in East Rutherford, NJ last night to watch Costa Rica cheated out of the CONCACAFAYLATTEMOCHA Cup 1-0 by Mexico. The linesman (who looked like an Anglo to me) and the referee (from Guatemala) combined to totally bollix up a penalty call in the 32nd minute of the 30 minute-plus-time-for-stoppages extra time in the quarter final. I've never seen a more obvious non-contact being called a penalty. Disgusting officiating - instant replay? Fourth official? That's no way to go out of (or continue in) any competition

Meanwhile, congrats to the US team - 6-0 drubbing of Cuba (diplomatic relations don't mean we won't kick your ass) and Clint Dempsey, a former Tottenham player scored three of the US goals and a new Tottenham signing (from Akron, OH) got to show some neat moves on the right wing and great promise,

Maybe the predicted USA/Mexico final will yet be. Mexico is no Cuba - truth is they should have had six past Costa Rica themselves last night.

I do hope everyone here is watching and rooting for the US of A! I bet Gob is glued to the highlights each night

What, you're channeling your inner Donald??

I've seen that games were being played, especially from my MD friends, who attended over the weekend. But I'm not watching, no.

Well, that's only off by a 100,000:
Mexico had dominated play but couldn't put the ball into the net until the final moments, and it took the penalty kick. Angry Costa Rica fans — heavily outnumbered by Mexico's supporters in the crowd of 74,187 at MetLife Stadium — threw bottles toward the field in protest.
