Re: Wise words
To be fair to Andrew, though he called himself a libertarian he was a quirky sort of left-wing libertarian, not anything like an Objectivist...and from reading what he wrote here I doubt very much whether he thought very highly of Ayn Rand. Here's a link to another anti-Randian libertarian--scientist, futurist, and Hugo-winning science fiction author David Brin, who calls himself a proponent of the "saner libertarianism of Adam Smith and Robert Heinlein."
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Re: Wise words
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Now that's funny, Sue!
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: Wise words
ok then, if that copy of Atlas Shrugged ever pops back up, it goes straight to the recycling bin....

Can't make out a fucking word he's saying!!
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
