Anyone Else Checked Out HUMANS?

Post by Lord Jim »

Looking for something new to check out, we watched the first episode last night, and wound up binge watching the next two...(one nice thing about an AMC show, you can always fast forward past the commercials)

I believe it's a co-Production with the BBC...(otherwise why would it be set in London with all British actors except for William Hurt? )

Set in the near future, (or an alternative present) people are purchasing "synths" (Synthetic people; robots) to perform all sorts of tasks...

But some of them have been "re-tasked"....

It's a theme that's been explored many times before, (good robots gone bad) but this seems like a well thought out version...

The way the show is constructed, it kind of reminds me of Torchwood without the Torchwood cast...

I've been watching it too. It may be a function of the way I watch TV (often distracted by other things), but there are clearly threads of stuff going on that I can't seem to link together yet. I think I'm going to have to go back and watch from the beginning to see if there are key pieces that I missed when my attention was on something else. But it seem to me that it's more complicated than good robots going bad, it's more like they have developed a consciousness of their own that allows them act outside of their programming in ways that could be good or bad.

You're going to have to do that to appreciate the show...

We watched the third episode first, and it was pretty obvious, (much like Orphan Black, and Wayward Pines) that if you don't watch it from the first episode forward, you're going to miss some key plot elements...

I did watch from the first episode, it's just that I think there were enough times that my attention lapsed towards other things that I might have missed some key stuff, so I'm going to have to watch them again.

I was looking forward to watching this but missed it. I think I have something else going on when it is aired.
Have to see if it's available On Demand (free) otherwise I won't be watching it.

Cablevision. Haven't checked the "on demand" for it. I am afraid my schedule doesn't leave me much time for watching TV. Oh well, I would rather go to an AA meeting anyway. Or fix something that is broken which seems to happen frequently lately. :shrug
