Donald Trump
Donald Trump
I am starting to think that the whole reason for his campaign is that he has some ginormous bet with some other billionaire on just how stupid the American public really is.
It's just a thought.
It's just a thought.

Do we really need another thread about Donald Trump?
I'm a lifelong news junkie, and I can't even stand to have the news on anymore in the background when I'm working because I am so full up with hearing about Trump....
It's too damn depressing...

I've switched to a cable channel that plays 70's music....

Re: Donald Trump
So the 70's music is just depressing enough?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Depends on which 70s music. You got yer Top-40 pop, yer late-stage psychedelic rock, yer R&B/early soul, yer disco, yer "classic rock," yer prog rock, yer punk rock, yer New Wave, yer hair bands, yer heavy metal and yer death metal. Then there's yer country & western genres ...
You know what, Crackpot? You're right.

Re: Donald Trump
A lot of Foreigner, Springsteen, and New Wave stuff: Debbie Harry, Patti Smith and Elvis Costello....
NO disco....
I'd rather listen to Donald Trump then listen to disco....
ETA:
In fact I'd rather be sent to Gitmo and water boarded, then listen to disco....

I could start a thread strictly dedicated to his hair if you like.Lord Jim wrote:Do we really need another thread about Donald Trump?

Re: Donald Trump
Imagine working for a candidate for almost a decade and having her beaten by a junior senator from Illinois, and then on the ropes because of a socialist from Vermont. Add in the fact that I've also worked for a candidate that got beaten by a Cosmopolitan centerfold, and another that screamed away his lead. *Thats* depressing, but as you've said, politics ain't beanbag.Lord Jim wrote:Do we really need another thread about Donald Trump?

I think Hillary's problems are of her own making this time around.on the ropes because of a socialist from Vermont.
Bernie is just the recipient of the disgruntled.
Re: Donald Trump
What if Trump wins the whole darned election? I would like to think it can't happen, but what if it does?
It seems to me that he has his handlers go into every redneck bar in the country to get a feel for what is going on for that particular group and they are feeding it back and he spits it out in bytes that group likes. No answers to their concerns but still it is effective.
Maybe we should think of a good spot to start an expat community.

Re: Donald Trump
It can't and won't happen. Great article by Nate Silver (538) today about the odds and why. I'll find it and post a link later.
But in the meantime is it pretty good comedy, if you're not a fan of the Republicans.
And Sue, you totally missed the softball above, to respond with your favorite Mencken quote .....

Maybe someone will grow on you. I've certainly had to hold my nose and vote, more often than I would like.

Re: Donald Trump
I doubt it would happen, but if he somehow did win I think he would be a one term president and very little would get done during his tenure. Like Christie (even more so than Christie) his bluster and screaming and. bullying would not work with Congress which would block his every move (and if things got bad enough, would move to impeach him). I would also think the career employees in the various departments would try to keep the ship on an even keel despite what he said. Not that this is a good thing; serious consequences could result from 4 years of nothing happening could be very bad for the US, but I doubt it would be the apocalypse some predictWhat if Trump wins the whole darned election? Re: Donald Trump
When it happens, you will know that American democracy has reached the height of perfection, as predicted nearly a century ago by the Sage of Baltimore:TPFKA@W wrote:What if Trump wins the whole darned election? I would like to think it can't happen, but what if it does?
“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”
― H.L. Mencken

Re: Donald Trump
Moron? I think we've already had presidents who qualify in that respect; possibly some idiots and imbeciles as well.
