Really, while "stupid" has its place in all this, I really do believe that "vulgar" is the close concomitant. And millions see nothing wrong with it at all.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I can understand being impressed by Trump (if you're gullible) but Ben Carson?

Take the scalpel out of his hand and he is completely useless.

Yeah, so we've got Trump, followed by Carson, followed by Cruz, followed by Fiorina, at long last followed by Bush...

And Rubio and Kasich...

How is it that 'the most unqualified candidates imaginable are leading the pack?

And this is not just true on the Republican side...

A complete frigging leftwing gadfly is now making a serious run against Her Royal Cintoness...

You might disagree with Bernie Sanders's political philosophy, but he has been in elected office for 35 years, including more than 20 years in Washington. So not exactly "unqualified."

Speaking of The Donald, at 7:00PM PST he is going to be interviewed by Sarah Palin on OANN, which I found on my AT&T network. Palin is also scheduled to talk to Jeb Bush.

This may end up being the most moronic and greatest comedy interviews ever seen on TV - or anywhere else!!

The funny thing about this is, that despite all the "anti-establishment" sentiment being expressed in both parties, at the end of the day, it's still overwhelmingly likely that the final choice will come down to the two most "establishment" candidates imaginable...

Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton...

The longer Trump stays in the race, the more he plays into the hands of Jeb Bush; because Bush is the one with the cash to go the distance and make himself The Last Man Standing as "The anti-Trump"...

The candidate who meets the standard, "even though we may not be crazy about him, at least he's not Donald Trump"...

The candidate who will consolidate the 70 to 75% of the Republican vote that will never vote for Donald Trump...

I think that trump would beat jeb and Hillary if he was matched against them in a three party race. mostly because people will stay home rather than bother to vote for either jeb! or Hillary, while trumps troopers are energized.

vote Kasich!

... Biden finally makes up his mind to run. And if he runs with Elizabeth Warren as his "assumed" VP choice I'm fairly confident he could easily snatch the nomination from Clinton. With Clinton's honesty and truthfulness rapidly on the decline money will not be a problem.

A Bush/Kasich team and a Biden/Warren team would create the most realistic slate. Regardless, the Repubs will never be able to get their shit together in less than a year, so the the election will be for the Democrats to lose.

Remember, ONLY 437 day to go til election 2016.

And despite all problems she's suffering from...

With her Nixonian "we don't believe she's honest and trustworthy" type- problems...

And Jeb's "I don't look or sound like my brother" type-problem...

At the end of the day, despite this "anti-establishment" sentiment that seems to be abroad in the land currently, the two most establishment candidates are likely to be left squaring off against each other for the Presidency.....

I have to say, I am amused at how the The Well Meaning Liberals are offended by comparisons between Trump and Sanders...

Trump is a know-nothing loud-mouth demagogic jackass; and so is Sanders...

Sanders wouldn't have a proper understanding of economics or defense policy if it fell out of the sky, landed on his face, and started to wiggle...

Neither would Trump...

Clueless, the pair of them...

The difference is, that while responsible, Pragmatic Conservatives see Trump as a vulgar threat, well meaning liberals see Sanders as, "good news"... 8-)

While you may well be right, I do think that Biden could be a pretty serious challenger to Hillary. I think there is a lot of Hillary fatigue among the dems (or at least the more independent dems), and Biden is a reasonable alternative (as much as I like Bernie, it ain't gonna happen). I would also think the repubs might do better to forego Bush and go with Kasich, but we will see.

Trump is just a big mouthed, obscene joke who will eventually fizzle out except among his minions, Despite what Wes predicted, I doubt that many on either side would stay home if there was a chance of electing him.

And 15 years as Mayor of one of the best cities in the country - consistently a top place to live. Trump couldn't run a casino in Atlantic City.....

An example of the Trumpster's veracity:

http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/28/politics/ ... od-boston/
Norwood, Massachusetts (CNN)Donald Trump said at an event charging $100-a-head in Massachusetts for his campaign Friday that he was not attending a fundraiser.

"This is not a fundraiser," Trump told reporters in Norwood. "I turn down a lot of money."

But earlier Friday, a sign outside the event directed donors on how to contribute.

"Please have checks made payable to: Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. or cash ready on entry. Thank you," read the sign, which was later taken down after Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, saw a CNN report.

Although the sign was taken down, several smaller signs depicting the same message remained at the check-in booth.

Hope Hicks, a Trump campaign spokesperson, said the campaign is paying for the event, which is why they are taking the money. But Ernie Boch Jr., a local car magnate who is hosting the event at his home, told CNN that he was paying for the event.

RELATED: Trump allies quietly seek money from rich, anonymous patrons

"Oh sure, (the money) goes to the campaign, sure, the checks are made out to Donald Trump," Boch told CNN. "I don't know that it would cover the cost of the event but we haven't really discussed it."

He added, "I am paying for the event tonight. I have invited my friends and acquaintances, and it started as a fundraiser but it kind of morphed into something bigger."

Asked later about who was paying for the event, Hicks said the campaign was reimbursing Boch and that's why they were taking money. Hicks followed up in an email, saying the campaign was paying for the event and "any small contributions will go directly to covering the cost of the event."

Trump has disavowed raising money for his campaign, saying it is a corrupting influence on politics. He nevertheless has several super PACs and a political nonprofit group, which can accept unlimited contributions from donors, supporting his campaign.
Eta: Had dinner tonight with a local lobbyist who told me she got an invite and a request for a $2500 donation. She declined to attend - but clearly the campaign isn't being truthful about raising money etc. And Sarah Palin (link in next post) calls him "the Truth Talker." Ha.

Trump is now getting the level of press attention that would ordinarily only be afforded to an incumbent POTUS...

Not just for his empty speeches, or his "press availabilities" but whenever "the great man" can be shown arriving or leaving from anywhere, all three cable news channels cut away to "live" coverage....

A number of pundits have taken to referring to this revolting spectacle that we have been subjected to as "The Summer Of Trump"...

Which of course his Donaldness, being the sort of modest and self-effacing fellow that he is, has fully embraced...

"The Summer Of Trump"?

How about The Summer Of

There's one thing that Trumpty Dumpty has taken to saying recently that I absolutely believe:

"I'd get along great with Putin"...

No doubt...

(like that would be a good thing....on my short list of things I don't want to see in the next President, "gets along great with Vladimir Putin" is right near the top...)

Two peas in a pod....

(Maybe that's a little unfair to Trump...I don't think he's had anyone murdered...)

So I watched "Missing the Point with Sarah Palin" last night because I was looking for some laughs, but it turned out to be 100% hard-core right-wing porn. The Quitter from Wasilla gave on-air tongue baths to Jeb!, Ted Cruz, Orrin Hatch and Trump consecutively, with all of them lying through their teeth. Completely substance-free, as Guin says, and more gross than comedic.

Then I had to take a shower.
