I went and dug a large hole in the backyard later to be lined with gopher wire.

Sweat was involved. evolved? A pulaski and a round-nosed shovel were put to productive use.

no no NO! More like this:

The adze blade is good for breaking up hard ground and transmitting vibrations back to the hands of the user when a large rock is discovered.

Its a little closer to this actually but some would say a mattock has a pick and an adze not and axe and an adze.

A pleasant labor. And next year I will have a gopher-proof 4ft x 3ft planter.

Today I labored over a hot grill and a cold blender....

Ess Eff's Indian Summer is in full throttle; hit 82 today, and expected to be in upper 70's to low 80's most of the rest of the week...

Hopefully this will then be followed by a serious monsoon season....

I used an extremely large amount of water to irrigate my garden and two lawns. Then I let the hose run for a little while for no particular reason.

A beautiful extended weekend here on Long Island. Bright sun and warm but no humidity.
Saturday I fixed my tractor. The steering knuckle broke it's weld from the front end. Wish I had a welder but I fabricated a bracket and it should hold. If it doesn't, I think the spot where it broke will crack off and I'll have to buy a neew front end piece. Oh well. After I got done with that, I took a snooze in my hammock.

Sunday I did more yard work. Weeded all the gardens a few of which had not been weeded since May. Also took care of the rasberry bushes. Cut out the old and tied up the new shoots getting them ready for next year. Washed my car then took a snooze in my hammock.

Monday was compost day. Dug out and sifted the compost that was done "cooking". Got about a yard of great dirt for next years plantings and have two empty bins ready for the fall leaves. Also put some of that great dirt on top of where the old cesspool was collapsed and filled in and planted some grass seed. Then I vacumed the pool and washed my wifes car. After all that, I took a snooze in my hammock.

Oh, and I bar-b-qued, crab legs, burgers, corn on the cob, steaks and lobster tails. Not all on the same night.
And went to a meeting every night.
Overall a productive weekend.

So, from that tiny expenditure of effort, you concluded you were entitled to not one, not two, but three hammock snoozes?

I'll try harder to get into that hammock more often.

I do have to turn the remaining compost pile. But at least I have four open stalls for the fall leaves.

I don't have one. Wanna chip in for one and we'll share it? You're only a 4-5 hour drive from LI.
