what does it mean?

Post by wesw »

ok. it s been a year and I still haven t figured it out. I ll have to admit that I m too stupid to get it on my own...

why do some of the threads have a symbol with rolling script in front of the thread title. is it because they have 150 views or more?

why are some of them red, and some blue?

what does the paperclip symbol mean?

what does the flame symbol mean?

please enlighten me....

I have no idea what you are talking about.
Only thing I recognize is what I have read and what I have not read.

I know what you're talking about but I don't know either

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

"Scrolling text" topic icon means an active topic with lots of replies (don't know what the minimum is to be considered "active.")

Red topic icon means there are posts n the thread you haven't viewed. Blue means you have viewed all the posts in the thread already.

A star in the topic icon means you have posted in that thread.

In creating a topic thread, you can attach an additional icon (flames, star, radioactive, heart, etc.) to indicate something about the topic. The icons appear above the "subject" box in the posting window.

The paperclip icon presumably means there is an attachment to the thread, but although the icon appears, that feature does not seem to function on this version of the software.

You're welcome.

thank you joe.... :)

must be a man thing...., like asking directions.

I m not embarrassed to ask directions, I just like to figure out where I m going on my own. I enjoy going down unknown roads and finding various dead ends.

I ve wondered what those symbols mean since the first week. I haven t researched what they mean or asked because I thought that I would eventually figure it out on my own. by osmosis I guess....

wrong.

sue posted while I was writing the first post. I just went ahead and posted it as it was, then wrote a second post thanking sue.

men are complicated, or maybe it s just me....

that reminds me. guin , helped me understand women, a bit better a while ago....

men often think of women as complicated, but guin helped me see it in a simpler way.

she basically told me that women are complicated..., deal with it, and deal with it kindly...

now that is simple enough for a man to wrap his head around

thanks guin!

That still doesn't explain why you were thanking Joe, if you were posting to thank him even before you saw Sue's post... :P

I was sarcastically thanking him for establishing what might turn out to be a funny, annoying , and long running theme of replying to questions just to let the person know that you don t have the answer, which meade put to humorous use in the current thread.

and that is a clearer answer than you ever get from Hillary, bah dunt chhhhhh....

Don't worry, wesw... I got it, after some thought.

On further review, I think my previous terminology needs some modification. It appears that the "scrolling text" icon seems to indicate a thread that has gone past the first page in length; the board considers an "active topic" to be a thread in which there has been a fairly recent post (sometime in the last 36 hours maybe?), regardless of the number of pages.

Carry on.

The paper clip means the thread is being held in place. Used for perennial threads and FAQs.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
