Must have upped their game since I was there 15 years ago when the first meal was pretty utilitarian.

Ours were at the Mint Hotel in Westminster maybe that isn't typical. (6 min walk to the Tate Britain) BTW if you give the concierge a decent tip when you arrive there will be a moment of confusion on his part but after that you will get FANTASTIC service. Very nice man.

I've always found London to be a lot like NYC in terms of costs. My guess is that it's probably less if you know where to go for cheaper (but still good) meals and drinks (like I do in NYC), but you need to know a city well to find those places. Movies are roughly the same; the theater is a bit cheaper, but the West End is trying to catch up with Broadway ticket prices; Covent Garden and the met are about the same for opera. I think the big difference in price will be seen if want to eat or drink the same things there as here; American beer is imported beer there and costs more than local (or even a lot of European) beers; I recall going with a few of my colleagues once to a TGI Fridays in Leicester Square (I'm still not sure why) and the prices were probably 50% above the same place here, but the pubs give you better food for a lot less.

Outside of London prices drop, just as they do out side of NYC.

Cars and petrol are a lot more, but there is subsidized mass transit (paid by that tax) and you can get to many places quicker without a car for a lot less than here.

Then again, for me at least, part of the fun of going somewhere is the ability to experience a different way of life. I've been to a lot of places I have enjoyed, even some I could easily relocate to live in, but still haven't found a place I'd rather live.

Mr Waters marked that "There are no guns" three times on the list before finally adding "There are still no guns" in his final entry.
Where is he that he sees a lot of guns?
I've been to Florida, never saw any guns there (outside of gun shops).
I even frequent "redneck" states and rarely see guns, unless we are out shooting/hunting or at the gun shop.
I think he has some kind of agenda. :shrug

Perhaps, I believe he might just be another nincompoop believing "guns are evil" so on and so forth.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

My guess: in the news, and in the minds of of cautious/worried citizens. (Listen to the BBC: if gun crime is mentioned at all, it's usually something that happened in the U.S. or in some other war zone.)

On our upcoming trip to the UK we'll stay here, here, and here.

wesw, I'd recommend a Strunk & White for some remedial grammar/language usage lessons.

THERE was nothing wrong in my post, BTW. ;)

....you also wrote "the hold their forks upside down"

I didn t mention that because it was a typo, but since you are being anal..., the hyphen was totally un necessary, a comma would have sufficed

Except my post was at 9ish pm, yours was several hours later, and mine was clearly not edited (if edited, there would be a stamp thus showing).

Not sure why the hostility, wesw. But I didn't edit the post for spelling/typos. Two seconds after publishing it - before anyone had replied - I added the final sentence (which is, I suspect, at the root of your nastiness toward me).

It IS possible you simply misread it, 'darlin'.

no sweetheart, I read it just fine, when you posted it. just because I did not reply immediately does not mean I did not read it immediately.

you know full well that if you edit something soon enough after posting it, no edit stamp will appear.

and...., why the hostility? perhaps the condescending and insulting tone of your post was the reason.

perhaps you need a remedial course on honesty.

I wish that you lived some place with out guns too.

eta- and also, little miss "there is nothing wrong with my post" ..., the " the hold their forks" line was also wrong.

you are right, I did misread it. you did not change the final line . I apologize.

the place that you used their wrongly is in another sentence, I apologize again for saying you were being dishonest

the line is..., "are their no mosquitos...."

but there was still plenty wrong, grammatically, with your post

I will assume that you are honest and just have poor grammar skills :)

sue--be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. You'd probably stay in Oz too, rather than return to Kansas (well Kansas, I might as well).

I make an occasional typo when posting from my iPhone, I'm sure of that. It's difficult to type on and the predictive text sometimes inserts text I don't mean to type, and I don't always catch it.

You, on the other hand, consistently misuse grammar, misspell words and plain don't make sense. And in recent months you've become a much bigger asshole than I could ever hope to be even in my worst moments here.

I'll save us both some grief by putting you back on ignore, where I don't have to read your 90% pointless and stupid posts and thus won't be tempted to ever respond again to your nasty and unnecessary criticism.

Since this is my last word to you, I'll enjoy saying what you deserve to hear: Go fuck yourself, wesw. You've been a worthless and in fact, terribly negative addition to this BBS. :fu

PS - Whatever else I am, I'm not a liar. I didn't edit that post; you (admittedly) just read it wrong. Fucking asshole.
