Ears were ringing in south London earlier this week when a broken church bell chimed for more than 24 hours.
The ringing at St. George the Martyr started on Monday, according to a report by the Evening Standard, and chimed continually until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Emergency engineers were called to address the technical glitch and restore peace in Borough High Street. The clock had to be stopped, and will remain stopped during repairs, according to a sign posted on front door of the church.
Church officials used Twitter throughout the incident to give updates and apologize to annoyed locals. "No our Vicar hasn't died ... well not until the angry sleepless mob with fire & pitchforks get him," the church tweeted.

Extreme campanology. Nasty.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
