Reminds me of the ending of a SpencerTracy-Katherine Hepburn movie.

An 11-year-old boy, found guilty of murdering his eight-year-old neighbour, has been sentenced to eight years in jail.

McKayla Dyer died on October 2 last year, after the boy shot her in the chest outside her home in Tennessee.

The boy, whose name was not released, was found guilty of first-degree murder on Friday.

The court heard the youngsters lived in the same mobile home park. McKayla was playing with her 11-year-old sister and another girl outside their home when the boy asked the sisters to bring their puppies to him.

When the girls refused, he left and returned with a 12-gauge shotgun and a BB gun and told the girls he had guns.

The boy "then made certain the gun was loaded, cocked the hammer on the gun and shot the victim just above the heart at a downward trajectory," the judge wrote.

McKayla fell backwards, "quickly lost consciousness, and was later confirmed dead".

"The mother of the child knelt on the ground and picked her up, placing her child in her arms as she passed away," the judge continued.

The judge ordered that the boy should be treated and rehabilitated so this never happens again.

"A child who commits first-degree murder cannot be willy-nilly turned loose into society," Judge Roach wrote.

The boy has five siblings who have been placed with relatives and the state, according to media reports.

He had been trained in firearm safety and had hunted with his father and grandfather, the judgement said.

The judge sentenced him to be detained in state custody until he turns 19.

At the time of the shooting, Latasha Dyer described her daughter as "a precious little girl".

"No matter how bad of a mood you were in she could always make you smile," she said.

Police are up in arms over an iPhone case that's shaped like a gun.

"Most kids carry their cell phone in their back pocket, and if someone reaches for it, in my mind they're reaching for a gun," said Al Della Fave, a retired New Jersey state trooper and firearms instructor.
This goes back to mid 2015 but I heard a news story today that Amazon has been asked to remove the offering. I guess no one has been shot yet on account of these stupid things
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

The father wasn't locked up for leaving an unsecured gun lying around where a child could get it? He should get 8 years in state prison and never be allowed to possess a firearm again..

The kid should spend the rest of his life in a maximum security mental ward and should never get out except in a body bag. Any siblings and both his parents should be irreversibly sterilized.
