It's still baseball then? Anyone tell the Indians about this?

Why would anyone tell the Indians about baseball being played in October?

Go Royals!

Sue - bottle of Côtes du Rhone on the outcome?

It depends whether you're betting with your head or your heart.

Royals are a scrappy bunch.
They were scrappy last year...

But not scrappy enough... ;)

Ah, but that was against last years giants, not the mets.

The 2015 Mets are hardly a Team of Destiny and it's truly difficult to fathom how they've made it this far (yes I know: they won enough games). Nevertheless, they are the NL champs and even from the craptastic NL East, so I am pretty much duty bound to root for them. I don't know that they are either better or worse than KC, but from the way the season and the playoffs went, obviously anything could happen this year. (Except the Phils winning -- that was never gonna happen.)

Sue--they have done well this year; certainly a lot better than their national league least reputation would have predicted. And they have great pitchers, especially starters. but it is the mets after all, a team which has often raised choking to an art form.

FWIW, I am leaning towards the Royals as my favorites AL team (there aren't a lot of them in that league), but I wouldn't be too disappointed if the mets took it.

Something just occurred to me...

Because of the huge difference in the size of the metro areas, coupled with the disdain and contempt with which Yankee fans regard The Mets, there are probably more people rooting for The Royals in New York, then there are in Kansas City.... :)

I don't think that's true. Mets fans hate the Yankees a whole lot more than Yankees fans hate the Mets. Mets fans are traditionally more, um, "downmarket" than Yankees fans, and tend to resent the media, money and city identity lavished on the Yankees; by contrast, Yankees fans never even think about the Mets.

I asked an associate of mine who is a big Yankees fan if he was pulling for the Mets in the WS. He said, "Sure, why not, they made it. But I'm sure as hell not going to Queens to see it."

inside the park homer my aunt fanny. that was a four base error and a sorry excuse for an outfield play

If you score errors every time someone misses a ball that "they should have caught" when they never touch the ball, you'd have a lot less hits (especially doubles and triples). Bad play, certainly; but I doubt anyone would have scored it an error.

I fell asleep and woke up long after the game was over.
Oh well they lost. We'll see what happens tonight.
I'm tired today. I need a nap.

To be honest, I completely forgot about last night's game and now I'm sorry I missed it...

14 innings, (longest for the first game in WS history...) an epic power failure of both the primary and back up broadcast generators, (the people in the control booth must have been shitting bricks) and an inside-the-park-homerun, (which in nearly 50 years of watching baseball, I have never seen live)...on the first pitch no less...

Not a bad start...

I think I heard that the last time it happened in the WS was in 1922.

The Mets are in trouble.
But on the bright side, in 1986 they lost the first game by one run (just like the other night) and lost the second game by 6 runs (just like last night). And we all know how that series turned out. Now if Bill Buckner would come out of retirement and play first for the Royals. :shrug

The Royals can hit (and play small ball). When are Mets pitchers going to realize they love to hit the first pitch and throw garbage on that first pitch.

Well, they better realize it soon...

They're running out of games in which to learn the lesson... :?
