Re: Uncle Ben's Rice...
The solution for "gangs running our inner cities and the cartels running our southern border" is *NOT* "guns, guns, and more guns."
If an armed populace and a willingness to fight back is what can prevent genocide, how do you explain the genocide of the Native American tribes...and the survival of the Danish Jews?First they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Communist, and I had my guns to protect myself.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist, and I still had my guns to protect myself.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew, and even then I still had my guns to protect myself.
Then they came for me—and there was no one keep them from prying my guns from my cold, dead hands.

It's safe to assume nothing, your inference is incorrect.Sue U wrote:So you're okay with a mass shooting every day and 1500 gun homicides a month? That's a perfectly fine price for America to pay so that you and your pal can be "delighted"? You think that's a healthy balance?
I believe if the existing laws were enforced, that is the path I believe we should take.
More gun legislation is not the answer.
In California we have some of the strictest firearms laws in the nation, yet that does nothing if a criminal by his/her very nature has refused to follow them.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

econo, the answer to crime is to fight it, the answer to an insecure border is to secure it.
the left is willing to do neither.
every one, forgive me If I don t believe that the privilege will long remain once the right is removed;
the word of the politicians and their lackeys and their masters carries little weight with me at present, perhaps the next batch will be a bit better, and the next, and the next....

Why wes?sue has influenced me to encourage every young person I know to collect arms and ammo now, while they still can
In the wake of Newtown, we couldn't even get universal background checks through Congress, with 90% public support...
Do you really think, for a single moment, that an amendment repealing the 2nd Amendment could get the support of 2/3 from both Houses of Congress and 3/4 of the state legislatures? When Americans overwhelmingly support it?
If so, you need to switch to a much milder cannabis variety...
You're drinking the LaPierre Koolaid...
I know Sue has tried to draw an analogy between this and gay marriage, but there are two HUGE problems with that analogy:
First, the legalization of gay marriage did not require the passage of a Constitutional Amendment. If it had, believe you me, we'd still be a long way from the legalization of gay marriage...
Second, shifting public opinion to get people to support extending rights to others, is an all together different matter from getting them to support the idea of giving up a right of their own ...

dude, I m capable of my own thought.
the only time I hear about la pierre is when I m here.
no one rides around with NRA stickers here.
the nra has never been part of my life
the only people that I see influenced by the nra are elected officials.
I didn t bother to refute all the crackpot theories that sue says I subscribe to, but for you I ll refute...
I do like their new ads tho....

Re: Uncle Ben's Rice...
Well wes, if your "own thought" is leading you to the conclusion that there is even the remotest chance that law abiding citizens are no longer going to be able to obtain firearms and ammo in this country, (which would require the repeal of the 2nd Amendment) then I strongly suggest that you re-think your own thinking...dude, I m capable of my own thought.

Re: Uncle Ben's Rice...
jim, where have you been, repealing the second amendment has been advocated and and explained away as harmless to gun owners thru out this thread
why the heck do you think I ve been so vociferous? (should that be typociferous?)

Re: Uncle Ben's Rice...
Wes, what is the point of being afraid of something that has a 0.0% chance of happening no matter how many times it's "advocated" or "explained"?

Re: Uncle Ben's Rice...
Even assuming you believe it, your post is pure nonsense because you directly contradict yourself: You think no legislation is needed because enforcing existing laws would be sufficient, but enforcement of existing laws is useless because criminals won't follow the law.dales wrote:I believe if the existing laws were enforced, that is the path I believe we should take.
More gun legislation is not the answer.
In California we have some of the strictest firearms laws in the nation, yet that does nothing if a criminal by his/her very nature has refused to follow them.
It's further nonsensical because it is blindingly obvious that a mere lack of enforcement of "existing gun laws" is not the reason for 40 gun homicides every goddamn day. Enforcement of "existing gun laws" does not prevent the daily mass shootings that are depressingly common in this country.
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Sandy Hook school shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Aurora, CO movie theater shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the recent Roseburg, OR community college shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Charleston, SC church shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Washington, DC Navy Yard shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Virginia newscasters shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Virginia Tech shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Isla Vista, CA shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Chattanooga, TN shootings?
Enforcement of what "existing gun law," exactly, would have prevented the Wisconsin Sikh temple shootings?
And these are just a few of the more spectacular media-highlighted and highly public killings that are just off the top of my head. The vast majority of mass shootings -- let alone run-of-the-mill homicides -- don't even make the news outside their own community.
That is patently false, and you obviously didn't even attempt to determine whether or not there was any truth at all to your claim before spouting off, since the actual data is readily available on-line. Again you just make shit up to try to hide your inability to engage in any kind of critical thought. It's not working.wesw wrote:so you are ok with gangs running our inner cities and the cartels running our southern border? there s your mass shootings....

Re: Uncle Ben's Rice...
most of those shooters you mentioned were known nut jobs who were coddled by lefty doctors and counselors.
insert any PC term you want for nutjobs (schizo, severely autistic, maladjusted, misunderstood)
we wouldn t want to hurt anyones wittle feelings
(sorry about the lefty thing, RR)
(its just too easy)
ok sue lets see a list of these 1500 mass shooting a month. post it. make it readily available here.

Re: Uncle Ben's Rice...
How about you read carefully, first. Sue wrote 1500 homicides by gun per month. 1 mass shooting per day. The mass shooting data is just above in the thread. Data on the 1500 figure has been posted multiple times in the last few weeks.
Perhaps you will learn that Sue doesn't make shit up. Unlike you - who never posts data or facts to support your arguments and positions. When asked to back up your statements your typical response is to either ignore, change the question, or dissemble. And that's why you're losing not gaining respect here.
Believe it or not, most of us don't judge you for your positions and ideas (unlike you apparently).
