The article specifically mentions Pinot Noir (red) and Pinot Meunier (black, but a mutant of Pinot Noir) grapes. Perhaps its the concept that "white" champagne has some of the same phenols found in red wine. I think the Cali sparkling wine adds too much chardonnay to the mix, which is why I've always preferred the authentic French sparkers (and which may not be as "healthy" as using the red/black grapes).
I did look into it and there are a LOT of other polyphenols of much greater complexity than resveratrol, and in greater concentrations. Very complicated chemistry.
Previous research from the University of Reading revealed that two glasses of champagne a day may be good for your heart and circulation and could reduce the risks of suffering from cardiovascular disease and stroke.
it would take an act of will for me to drink two glasses of champagne every day. I'll hold out for the alternative.
bigsky, as a fellow sufferer of migraines perhaps I have some insights that will benefit you.
I discovered in high school that my migraines, which I had since I was a toddler, were triggered by certain foods.
back then, the school meat was soybean burgers and soybean cheesesteaks, with MSG for flavor. I realized that everytime I ate school meat, since elementary school , I got a migraine.
other foods did it too. other preservatives too
pink grapefruit juice in the convenience stores did it. I had to buy the cheapest brand of plain bitter grapefruit juice
those packets of noodles used to do it
cheap wines did it , and Budweiser..., instant migraine before I finished one beer
these days I am more careful, and I think that many producers have gotten away from these preservatives, quietly, quietly
I even had a Budweiser a few years ago, after that European company bought them out, and got no head ache from it. I think they changed the preservatives in it.
Meade, I've resolved my wine dilemma with the decision to remove the rear seats from my RAV for the drive across country. That will leave plenty of room for the boxes of wine and my grandmother's heirloom mirror, my g'grandmother's cuckoo clock, and a few other breakable heirlooms I don't want to ship.
As for the seats; my Montana friends will ship them by freight to me if I ever want them, but I probably won't - it will be easier for the dog to get into the car by the rear door with a ramp, and to have the whole back end as a place to lounge on road trips - she'll be able to lie on her orthopedic bed, rather than sitting awkwardly on the back bench seats - which are not comfortable, in any case.

well, perhaps i shouldn t have said cheap wines, i should have said certain wines. i wasn t talking about mad dog or red lady 21 or wild irish rose.....

Just curious. I have a RAV4 and the rear seats fold forward all the way down to allow more cargo. Even the front seat will tilt all the way back and lay flat.
Doesn't yours do that? I'm sure taking the seats out would add some more room but not a lot.
Since you're carrying so much, you should make sure that you load your car evenly and be careful not to overload it. Your owner's manual should tell you how to adjust your tire pressure for a heavy load.
The wine is only 160lbs, and maybe another 100 at most for odds and ends? Then there's me and a 50lb dog, so I think my total cargo won't weigh more than the four passenger weight it's engineered for as average load.
Right?

That's no problem. When you said before that you couldn't fit the wine in I was imagining your RAV was going to be loaded up with as much as you could squeeze into it. You won't have enough weight in there to be concerned about with the things you named. 4 people would weigh more than what you'll have in there. The RAV could take much more weight than you'll be carrying.
