Geico or Progressive?

Post by BoSoxGal »

So I called yesterday to find out how much my auto insurance will be in Maine; a reduction from my just-paid 6 month premium in Montana of $304 to $182!

But while I was on the phone waiting for the quote, I ran a quote on Geico and same coverage is $156 in Montana and $132 in Maine!

Should I switch to Geico???? Obviously as a matter of $ it's a clear decision, but I'm just wondering if folks have good/bad experiences with Geico that would guide me in making the choice? Are they so awful that the low price isn't justified?

FWIW, I don't generally have claims - it's been a very long time. But if I had one, I wouldn't want to be jerked around.

As an old Nationwide guy.... well, last year we had Progressive auto for a while - got hit by a tree (a branch fell off while we were parked) and I was most impressed by their Claims service and the fix. Don't know about Geico but since Eagles eat lizards, I'd not choose them.

Both companies receive the same claims satisfaction rating and Geico is less expensive in several studies

J D Power - Survey of Home & Auto insurance carriers. Not Auto alone. But you see Geico rated higher (slightly) than Progressive in this one

As an OAP, The Hartford (via the AARP connection) was by far cheaper for us for home/car.

MY THOUGHTS

Post by RayThom »

AAA might be a company to check. I have Roadside, Auto, and Home Owners with them and my rates are the cheapest I've ever paid anywhere. Zip codes are everything, mine is 19348.

hmmmm.

I wonder if there any redwoods near major dams...?

...in other news..., I just realized that you can hit the right hand Shift key with your pinky and then hit the ? with your right hand ring finger.

I have only used the left hand Shift key until now ....

???? ...., yep. works good.

We've used Liberty Mutual for combined home & car & an umbrella policy for the past 14 years. Before that mostly AAA (CSAA) which is non-profit so any unused premium money is returned each year. We had progressive for a short time in-between.

We have high deductables for car and home, both. $1,000 for the former and $10,000 for the latter.

CSAA is often the cheapest (even before counting the annual rebate) and has a famously good claims service. But they are regional not national.

Most people use those same two fingers to create an apostrophe. Practice the question mark for a couple of months and then you can work on the apostrophe.

That's why I like it here. So many exciting things going on at once...

uh...' ' ' ' ' ' '..... Oh yeah. You're right. I made a mitake.

So, anyway.... with the knowledge that you have of the apostrophe, your lack of apostrophetic usage is not reasonably explainable unless you have a mental block of some sort caused by a weird uncle who touched you in private places with his apostrophe. In that case I apologize for bringing up the trauma you now may be experiencing.
