jim, I considered doing this thread in "all our own work" but decided on 'laffs' because I didn t want anyone to take it too seriously. I think that I have taken the piss out of most ethnic groups, the powerful ones anyway, including and even especially my own, just to be fair. pointing out the folly of men has its place. for me, that place is here.

I was going to end it with china releasing it s nukes and "Valhalla for everyone", and demonstrate the futility and temporary nature of Empire, but the thought of china s arsenal self destructing, like their exported tools, was just too juicy to resist. this is my work of humour, rather dark humour tho it is, and I plan to finish it. I am willing to face the slings and arrows or whatever the description of the 'all our own work' category says....

I really don t mind that you guys and gals think my stories are shit, well I do, but I want the truth. I do mind people trying to stop me from telling my stories.

if I were to be un-generous, I would think that some people think that a semi-southern middle aged white man, without a college degree, and who earned his living with his hands as well as his mind , cannot be fairly well educated , fairly well read, intelligent, and/or cannot have a point of view with any validity. but I am confident that that is not the case, you are an open minded lot..., mostly

Iceland announces...

...that the mohametans have abandoned Indonesia and are headed toward the holy land to participate in the final battle.
....that we have reached an agreement andtreaty of mutual cooperation and friendship with the following tribes and peoples in Africa; the tuareg, the masai, the Zulu, the pygmies, and the bushmen of the Kalihari.

in other news...
a population of hobbits or leprechauns or gnomes of some sort has been reported on the Indonesian island of Flores. the pygmies and bushmen have agreed to accompany our longboats and will attempt to communicate with, and offer peace to the little buggers.

chess for everyone.

You should take the blame for it

Wes, if you don’t mind me making a suggestion, your story needs some central characters and dialogue. In a story people identify better with individuals than they do with a faceless movement.

If I had the time I would suggest a collaborative story writing exercise. But, for me that is no where close to realistic; story writing is a very time intensive activity.
I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

yeah lib, I thought about letting you get the german thing going in opposition to my line but was afraid of the Nazi thing coming out. so no collaboration there.

this was meant to simulate what, say..., a yazidi family would have heard on the radio when the Islamic State issued its edicts. it then just evolved into a parody of empire, a faceless empire that must be obeyed. it was meant to be farcical and disjointed. it was meant to remind one of life in the dark ages or early middle ages, of life in the World Wars, of the rise and fall of empires throughout history and also to remind one of what life might become today if those who aspire to empires are allowed to flourish. it was meant to show that the face of empire is not always the power of empire. think Saudi Arabia.

it was never meant to be realistic, only reminiscent of reality. it was influenced by history, and by current events and the forum in real time. it was writing as performance art....

...and it was only practice, un refined and un retouched. written by the seat of my pants on the fly, just a few minor edits for clarity and mistakes as I looked back.

I do seriously appreciate your input tho, and your serious and thoughtful response, because I had no idea what I was doing, exactly, until you caused me to contemplate it.

thanks
wes

and there was dialogue in the 'marmite skit'! I really hate to hit the shift key and so I avoid dialogue too much here....

another insight brought on by Liberty.... hmmmmm.

It worked on me, dammit. I'd managed to avoid adding a "View" by just letting this pile sit as the only "unread" on my list but he's fooled me.

wesw - you call for honest evaluation? OK. Whatever you are trying to do here is not working. This really is not funny, uninteresting, and devoid of any value whatsoever. Possibly an eight year old child of limited ability would think it amusing. It is not by any stretch of the imagination good enough for Python to put in the Reject pile, let alone produce. If you're not just blowing smoke up our asses, then you are doing it to yourself. Get help.

You have a contribution to make here - sufficient to warrant being read - but this is not it.

ah well, It amuses me. I m glad that you found a way to ignore it. the marmite thing was funny to me too. my daughter thought that gypsey moth thing was pretty good and kept up with it daily. she and holly would have been lost in the obscure cultural references in the radio announcement thing , and I would have had to explain every one of them to my daughter, curious little thing that she is, so I saved that for you guys only.

I ll put you down as a maybe... :)

i feel a duty to see it thru til the bitter end , now. but i tire of the bit, so i ll cut right to the chase for you and end your misery.

Sad.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.
