I do not particularly want him to make this leap alone. I will be registered on his new Board in one way or another.
You know what Hen? You're abso-bloody-lutely right!
Bollocks to banning, moderation, freedom of speech, Steve etc...
After everything Gar has done the least I can do is stand by him in his new venture.
I think we all know that the downward slide of the CSB was not his doing and since his return he has been in a nightmarish "damned if you do, damned if you don't" position.
The rum-soaked old fart deserves our support!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
He's been to the board this am I looked. Doubtless has seen that he is being called to the floor and is off in some snit. I can only hope Eddie and gwen will follow suit.
Well said, Sean. Particularly the part about the slide not being his fault, and his trying to make something better out of it. I wish him well.

It all appears to be mandatory.
Zero privacy. Zero chance of me registering for the time being.
Well the mandatory info thing is easily gotten round Loca just fill it out with fake info - I do that regularily on sites which have the same requirements however at the moment I too am in the zero chance of me registering camp not because of the registration stuff but because of the people search options. Why would we need to specify "I am a man/woman looking for a man/woman aged.... located .... with picture... online now ...." thats the kind of search option for a dating site or sexchat site its certainly not required for a discussion board.
I think I'll wait n see exactly what kind of website the new CSB is intended to be before I decide to join up.
If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
So, I registered but now wish I hadn't - turns out profile information is set to 'public' by default. There was no confirmation email in the hour following my registration, so by the time I got home from turkey dinner to find I'm logged into the new site by default, I also find that all my personal information has been up there for Steve to read for the entire day.
Just great.
@w, smart thinking. Wish I'd followed suit - I just assumed like at any other website where I've joined that the personal information was for the site admin only, and I trusted Gar.

I've registered as a 21 yr old Argentinian from Port Stanley.
Couldn't get my name without a hypen, which pissed me off.
Am I alone in thinking the banners make the place look amateur and childish?

Thanks for the heads up. I registered to protect my user name from misappropriation and didn't give the rest of the site a second glance, so same thing happened to me.

So would any website administrator with half a brain who wasn't crocked when he wrote the code. Gar COMPLETELY screwed the pooch on this one, and if there are any repercussions from the crazies based on having access to our personal info, Gar is going to answer for it.
Once logged in, click on the Dashboard tab (the speedometer symbol - 2nd from the left)
You will see a link that says Edit Profile Info - click, and then on the right hand side click on the drop menu (Edit Profile Privacy) and select Me Only
You can also replace sensitive information with gibberish by editing the individual fields.
That's what I thought. Not sure why he was asking for all that info anyway (but I figured I'd be a good sport because, like others said, I figured I could trust Gar), but having asked, the default should have been that all info was private, particularly since there is lag in actually knowing whether you are registered due to this inexplicable back and forth of emails that is supposed to happen.
I can't imagine what would have possessed him (unless he was drunk or on drugs) to think that it would be a good idea for it to even be possible that members' full names would be displayed publicly.
