According to this chart Indiana state law requires coverage to include insulin and other medications to treat diabetes. So perhaps your employer-provided plan needs to be reported as not meeting state requirements:

The more expensive tiers do cover it.

I work with many who are working poor. They are working as CNAs, housekeepers and in laundry. They have kids and chronic diseases, some have kids with chronic diseases.

This piece of crap that Obama wants credit for is nothing but confusion and tears for them. Anyone who thinks that this mess is helpful to the most vulnerable is deluded.

... as evidenced by Hillary's dancing feet last night. Colossal increases in premiums; huge growing deductibles; providers closing their doors; customers like me driven to despair by confusion and inefficiency at .gov - what's the word? Oh yeah.... a glitch or two. Just a little glitch, you dumb whiners.

And another thing... why do they keep kowtowing to her and calling her "Secretary" Clinton? She's secretary of nothing at all. Mrs. Clinton is more like it. Sorry - that's another thread.

And I represent some working and non-working poor, too (pro bono), who have better health care now than they did before the ACA. Perhaps its a state difference, I cannot say. Obviously, we have had different experiences. But if state coverage mandates diabetes care coverage, I'm unclear without doing more research than I have the time to do why all levels do not include that coverage.

As for the ACA itself, in no way am I suggesting its perfect. It is far far from the ideal health care coverage I'd like to see us provide. I'd much prefer far more coverage, along the lines of single-payor complete coverage for everyone. That "socialist" ideal that so many other civilized countries seem to understand is a basic service that should be provided for its citizens.

But that's not how "we" think here. That's not a priority for many in this country, including many of those with enough influence and power to shape legislation.

And why do they call George Gordon Meade, General Meade, when he is general of nothing? You know the answer, of course. Etiquette, sir.

Far be it from me to come to the defense of Slick Hillie, but that's pretty much SOP, Gen'l...

People who have held elective or high appointed office, are generally addressed with the title of the highest position they achieved, even if they no longer hold that office...

Jeb Bush is addressed as "Governor Bush" even though he hasn't been a Governor for a while...Mr. Reagan was addressed as "Governor Reagan" long after he left that office, until he was elected President...(So was "Governor Carter")

Even Newt Gingrich is still addressed as Mr. Speaker...

And former Presidents are still addressed as "Mr. President" when being interviewed...

The use of those titles in addressing a person (especially in a public forum) is a long established convention that has more to do with an acknowledgement of respect for accomplishment rather than whether or not they currently hold the office...

They are being forced to pay for an ineffective bit of crap they don't want and that doesn't offer effective coverage and offers them the whip if they don't support it. If that makes you feel warm and fuzzy instead of complete outrage and you think Oboner deserves a cookie for presenting it so be it. All credit to the elitist dems who are wrapped in their security blankets and immune to the fallout. All hail.

Where did I say anything about blankets or cookies or feeling warm and fuzzy??

I'm glad you're outraged. Human beings deserve more than crap care, and crap service, and I've said that from the beginning of the discussion about mandatory health care. But I don't agree that scrapping the ACA is the solution.

ACA coverage isn't perfect, but as someone who would have nothing without it, I'm grateful for it.

People who treat their diabetes with tablets, injectable therapies or insulin are entitled to free prescriptions - but if you're in England you'll need to have a medical exemption certificate to claim your free prescription unless you're aged 60 or over. For more information go to our free prescriptions page.

Everyone with diabetes is entitled to free NHS sight tests. Having diabetes does not automatically qualify someone for free dental treatment. To find out the rules on different services for different parts of the UK, go to the health costs section on the NHS Business Services Authority website.

The ACA is a step on the road to single-payer national health. It isn't the end point.

I don't call it "Obamacare". It is not what the President asked for. It is a kluge put together by the health insurance interests in Congress. It was DESIGNED to fail. Wait until the Republicans finally manage to repeal it, and then try to get health care. You will get SHIT

Too late, it's already SHIT.

Thank the powers that be that my husband covers me with a more reasonable insurance but I don't know how much longer he will go on working. Then I am going to have to swim in the waters, shark infested as they are.

It was SHIT in 2008.

Go ahead, somebody, anybody...tell me how much it was improving and getting less expensive every year, before ACA... :fu

I had better coverage prior to Obama getting his fingers in it.

I had better coverage in 2000 than I did in 2008, and I had better coverage in 1980 than I did in 2000.

But...

...I agree with you there. Maybe people are finally beginning to realize that single-payer universal coverage is the way to go.

Turns out my understanding was defective. The HealthSpan Ohio insurance carrier remains in place (for the time being?) but they have terminated their HealthSpan Physicians network as of 3/31/16. Most of the doctors have been picked up by MetroHealth System.... but not one who's a bit important to me at this moment. Or was.

Aaaargh! Left sunny Kent early this a.m. to drive to surgeon apptmt in Parma; snowstorms, I77 a crawl... made it on time. Waited over half an hour - which is most unusual. Finally found out the doc is stuck in traffic somewhere and.... he's NOT getting picked up by Metro when HealthSpan closes their Physician network 3/31.

He can still do the op on Monday but will not be available for follow-up/emergency support etc. Consequently, I am being referred to another surgeon and... start all over again. (Well not quite - I do have MRI scans of my left knee on a CD - whoot!). A bit down, I must admit. But, man proposes while God disposes. I guess my bad knees can wait - and now I'm thinking "bi-lateral"; get 'em both replaced at the same time and have done with it. Fiddle-de-dee - tomorrow is another day
