Early Xmas present.
Early Xmas present.
Well, that's going to cost me, and what a nice early Xmas present!!
Took the dogs for a walk at National Arboretum. I returned to the car to find that some worthless piece of shit in human form had bricked the drivers window.
They had riffled the storage box, but not taken anything, obviously my taste in medieval music is not shared by them.
Fortunately they missed the GPS in the glove box, and didn't realise there was a $600 camera tripod in the rear footwell.
I'm glad I didn't catch them at it as I wouldn't fancy having Xmas in the cells, while thinking of them getting the best hospitality intensive care can offer.

Re: Early Xmas present.
Do you have a garage door opener in the car? The new fad is to steal the garage door opener, check out the addy on the registration and go there for the main robbery using the garage door opener to get in.
I am sorry you were Grinched.

We never lock our garage, so that's not the reason, but thanks for the condolences..

Sorry to hear that, Gob.
KARMA might intervene on your behalf, I hope.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Re: Early Xmas present.
I don't know how mechanically inclined you are Gob, but if you are so enabled, you may find that you can buy a window glass for about £25 from a breaker. It requires removal of the inner door panel to get at the window's regulator. Knocking out the original rivets that are usually found holding the glass in the regulator is best done by removing the rivet's head with an electric hand drill. They can be replaced with small bolts that fit their holes. You may be able to find a YouTube video from someone who has done it on a car like yours. Those are usually quite helpful.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
Re: Early Xmas present.
I have always got the impression that Gob was anything but mechanically inclined and I think he drives a sort of a clunker too, though fairly recently aquired.

Sorry to hear -- total PITA. This sort of thing over here would mean a junkie was looking for something easy to sell for his next fix.

Nailed it. I cannot change a plug without risking serious injury.

Not sure about there, but some salvage yards in this country will install windows.

Re: Early Xmas present.
I've got a good working relationship with the owner of a body-and-fender shop in my hometown, and there have been a couple of times where I've had minor problems and he has gotten replacement parts from a salvage yard and installed them for me. Sure it was more costly than if I'd done it myself, but I knew that he would get the correct pieces; when he got done it was going to work correctly; I kept the insurance company out of it; and it was still a lot less expensive than paying for new OEM parts and labor.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: Early Xmas present.
Yup, the boys at our local garage are sourcing a second hand window for me, hopefully to be fitted Tuesday

I have a '98 Range Rover...
Sorry about your mishap Strop, but when you think about it, it's a little insulting when somebody breaks into your car and doesn't steal anything...

Could have been worse - they might have left behind CDs they'd ripped from his website

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
