Reminds me of when my kids were young. We came home from grandmas house on Christmas eve to find our house broken into. Lucky we had hte kids presents downstairs in the cabinet. Still the theives stole the nintendo and santa gave my son a game. 12/26 I was out getting a new nintendo console.
They also stole my pocketwatch that was my grandfathers.

I had the drivers window broken out of my car last year. I think it cost around $120 to have it replaced. I called ahead but it took less than an hour; didn't even finish reading the paper.

Nothing in the car to steal so that was the extent of it.

No you wouldn't, but my mechanic is one of Kelly's cousins and if he tries to pull anything shady with our cars, (which he did exactly once) my MIL will sic his mother, (her sister) on him...

I use BS wrenches all the time. Some of them even have both BS and Whitworth markings on them (which of course are different even though the span is the same). They aren't mine, belong to the museum, but since I'm one of the main mechs there...

Even though Packard built the Merlin V-12 here in the US, they had to maintain commonality with the British parts so everything was BS. Which means having a whole set of special tools just for that bloody thing. I want to work on my Allisons again, dammit. But no, have to get this Merlin running again, using parts that were thrown away as junk (then hoarded, fortunately) 40 years ago. Parts are scarce, and the Warbird folks won't sell us boat guys anything good.

So we build running Merlins with Rover Meteor (it was a British TANK engine based on the Merlin) parts and whatever else we can scrounge. I just hope this thing will start.

I need a damn 7mm wrench. Unfortunately, most of an hour digging through my metric tools has turned up every wrench from 4mm to 22mm...EXCEPT that size.

Yes, bought cheap at a garage sale. Seller didn't know what they were. I've only had need of the one to adjust the rich/lean mixture nut on SU carburetters.
