Welcome to 2016.

Post by Gob »

Pah!! I was at work until 9.00 pm last night, or "New Years Eve" as some call it. I'm back in work 9.00 am today or "New years Day" as it's known,.

Spare a thought for all the nurses, doctors, police, fire brigade, armed forces and other people who keep us safe and well and who aren't with their families today.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Beautifully posted and let me echo your sentiments. :ok

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Especially the ones that just got back from... what was it?

A six week vacation? :nana

ETA:

Oh wait a minute....

My mistake; eight weeks...
Of course we had to take 4 days off to get ready to travel, and a week off after to get over the holiday, so it really extends from 31/10/15 to 23/12/15, a total of 8 weeks.

We respect hard work over here, and reward it with time off, it's known as "paid leave", you should try it in the US! ;-)

yeah, Moscow shot its fireworks over empty streets.....

Belgium had to cancel theirs....

Germany is on red alert tonight....

turkey busted a couple of guys with bomb stuff and a boom-vest, thank god

they caught the guy in Rochester new York that was gonna blow up a restaurant tonight, thank god

there are a bunch of people packed into times square with no booze or bathrooms or bags, surround by 6000 cops, 1200 of which are just graduated cadets...

sounds like fun..

whoopee.

but as gob says, thanks to those who serve.

I assume from the total lack of discussion on isis, and the many related arrests of late, that we are all agreed as to the fate of isis and their cronies....

oh yeah..., happy new year.

LESS THAN THREE HOURS TO GO

Since 2001 I get a little anxious as I watch the crowds swell into Times Square. Hopefully it will be another year without anyone screaming "allah akbar!"

Tic...tic...tic... HAPPY NEW YEAR

I certainly appreciate the fact that there are police, firefighters etc working while the rest of us get drunk and stoned then drive around crashing into other people and things while accidentally starting fires and falling off of bridges and other fun stuff.

Although I don't know how doing their jobs today is any different than any other day around here....

I was about to post something along the lines of "around here we call that Tuesday".

New Years Eve is one of those days I don't leave the house. Drunks on a normal day are bad enough.

Someone down the street is having a blast of a time though, and it's still almost 6 hours until midnight here. Hopefully the ballistic arcs don't come down on my property again.

...and there it is; naked and unashamed. In Australia, 'work' is known as 'paid leave'

Obvs. :nana

Gob's employer keeps paying him to stay away from work. Maybe they're hoping that one day he will get the clue...

Why would want to do that, when they're paying me to stay away...

Okay.... I guess that makes sense. If you didn't go back once in a while, they wouldn't know whether or not they need to keep paying you to stay away.
