If the Emperor banned football, the violent crime rate would double overnight.
This sounds like the same sort of flawed logic used to argue for the legalization of prostitution ("if guys had a legal sexual outlet there wouldn't be so much rape and sexual abuse"), legalization of drugs ("If drugs were legal there would be less crime because people wouldn't have to steal to support their habit"), and the proliferation of weapons ("an armed society is a polite society").

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I believe it's the size/speed/athleticism of todays football players that is at the root of the problem. Gone are the Sonny Jorgensens and the Ken Stablers who only got into a bit of shape for the season. These athletes have 0% bosy fat, weigh 27 0lbs and run like the wind. As the atheletes get bigger/stronger/faster, the collision forces get larger.

But if I were big/fast/strong enough, I would play the game, and not only for the money. I loved playing the game. I still meet my high school buddies on Thanjksgiving day and play. 43 years and counting.
