Re: She ruined my meal
I liked the surgery shows; they demystified disease, anatomy and surgical procedures. Although I recall being particularly freaked out by one episode of Infant Skull Surgery where, after making an incision around the scalp line, the doctors literally peeled down the child's face.
Back when print was still a thing, I worked for an eye surgery periodical where part of my job was watching videos of various surgeries. Un Chien Andalou got nothing on some of those.

GAH!

And showed why so many grads with weak stomachs ran to go to law school (me included, not that I was adept enough at Biology or Chemistry that I could have pretended to be a doctor).Sue U wrote:I liked the surgery shows; they demystified disease, anatomy and surgical procedures.

KARMA, anyone?
And here was Burton's response to that post (deleted along with the original comment):
"First of all, the "overdosing junkie" that you speak of was a 70-year-old woman who had a heart attack. Thankfully she was revived at the hospital and survived. It sounds like you were very concerned about her so I thought you should know. This poor lady, who was celebrating New Year's Eve with her husband and son, had to be placed on the floor of a completely packed bar and have her shirt removed in front of everyone so the paramedics could work on her.
But I completely understand why you think being intoxicated (expletive) that didn't understand your bill should take priority over a human life. I especially appreciate you making your server (who doesn't curse) cry as well. I'm sure she really enjoyed working on New Year's Eve just to deal with people such as yourself. I personally had to leave a show to take a phone call from an emotional manager telling me someone died at Kilroy's and that other employees were not doing so well dealing with this. (At the time they didn't know that she was going to make it.) So I understand how inconvenient this was for your night.
But honestly, I'm glad to hear you won't be coming back to Kilroy's because we wouldn't want anyone as cold hearted and nasty as you returning. I appreciate anyone who chooses to spend their money at Kilroy's until they act like you. You can take your money anywhere else after that, and I won't lose a second of sleep over it. Happy New Year!"
Kilroy's has received an outpouring of support since the incident. Internet sleuths managed to dig up Holly's place of employment and have now been blasting them with low reviews and calls for the establishment to fire her.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Yep, what she posted was stupid, ignorant and stupid. It was also posted at 2am on NYD through a drunken haze. Why should she lose her job over this?
Gotta love the lynch mob mentality that goes with social media...

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

People have always done stupid, really stupid, and *INCREDIBLY* stupid things while drunk, but not until recently have millions of people been able to witness them. As long as it didn't involve motor vehicles or firearms, I wouldn't even put this into the "*INCREDIBLY* stupid" category.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Re: She ruined my meal
After checking out the menu prices for this restaurant, (the most expensive item is $14.99; most of the entrees and other pub-grub offerings run between nine and twelve bucks...the drinks don't look all that expensive either... even if you're doing some serious drinking, and you're there for a while, the only way you're going to run up a $700 tab is if you have a group of at least 5-6 people; probably more...
So when this über diva decided to go Naomi Campbell, why didn't anyone in her group tell her to STFU?
Presumably because they agreed with her...
So, it seems to me that what we have here is not a case of a single asshole, but rather, a gaggle of assholes...
But only one of them was stupid enough to post their assholery on social media...

According to staff Jim, some of her party were embarrassed by her behaviour, apologised to the wait staff she was rude to and left extra tips.

Discovery Life, I recently discovered, has several medical/surgical "recreated reality" shows. You can also find videos of operations on youtube. I watched a video of a cataract surgery after I had mine done.(glad I waited, too)TPFKA@W wrote:Gob wrote:You have surgery shows?
I haven't seen them if there are.
Re: She ruined my meal
I have seen surgery up close and personal. The first hysterectomy I saw. The "splat" noise of her uterus hitting that pan after they took it out still resonates. C- sections are particularly bloody and the Docs are up to their elbows fishing out the spawn. And I mean that literally, the elbows part. You can't probably imagine the sweating and grunting that goes on and how physical surgery can be.
I don't need To watch it when I am relaxing.

I know I was in the room when my wife had hers. Had the sheet up so I thankfully didn't see anything but was privy to the pushing pulling and exclamations of "this kid just doesn't want to come out".TPFKA@W wrote:I have seen surgery up close and personal. Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: She ruined my meal
I imagine @W has the stomach to eat liver & onions while watching a C-section but only in person. Watching it on TV would lessen the experience.... no smells...etc.
