Alan Rickman, probably best known for playing Severus Snape in all 8 of the "Harry Potter" films (and for being the only one entrusted by author J.K. Rowling with the full knowledge of one of the biggest character plot twists in recent memory) died Thursday January 14th at the age of 69. He had been secretly battling cancer, but the disease has claimed yet another victim far too soon.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Hatch* is overwhelmingly saddened by this. Not only is she is of the Harry Potter generation, but her and Alan Rickman have their birthdays on the same day (21 Feb,) she is huge fan of Rickman.

(That's from Sense & Sensibility, if anyone is wondering)

Those of us who like growed up movies, enjoyed him in that Christmas classic, Die Hard, as well as in Galaxy Quest; and he pretty much stole the scenes from the stars of those movies.

You mentioned "growed-up movies", apparently feeling that the "Harry Potter" series was kid stuff — and I'll admit, the first one was pretty much all fluff and stuff. I suggest you give the last four or five (from "HP and the Goblet of Fire" on) another viewing with a slightly less jaundiced eye. -"BB"-

Sense and Sensibility. Love Actually. Sweeney Todd.
And don't forget, he was RWR in The Butler!

Sad news. He was a favorite actor in my household. Bottle Shock... a specious movie and I think he motored through it but was still by far the best thing about it. Galaxy Quest is a must-watch as is Sense and Sensibility. A prodigious talent - a fascinating voice. Another young 69 year old gone.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

"Cancel the kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans; no more merciful beheadings — and call off Christmas!"
Yeah, when you start talking about a villain's edicts, that one is a classic. The only thing that might have improved it would have been to have him start with, "No more Mr. Nice Guy." -"BB"-

That starttled look in the scene where he is falling from the building at the end of Die Hard, the director told him "we'll let go on the count of three" but they let him go when the director said "one".

And then as he walks past two servant girls he points at one and says "You, 10:30" and then looks at the other one and says "You 10:45...and bring a friend..."
We watched "Die Hard" Saturday night, in memory of AR.
