60s Redux...

Leader of the Pack could be cute. Grapevine? And they need something from the Beach Boys!

No tribute to the 60s could be complete without a little Mama Cass:
Make Your Own Kind of Music has a great message for teenagers of any decade - don't be afraid to be your own person. And I've heard some great choral arrangements of it that your daughter might be able to get her hands on.

If they decide to record it and post it online, let us know where to find it if you are comfortable doing so.

LJ I am changing your name to Cleopatra because you are heavily in denial.I am NOT "60s generation" (I'm 70's generation; nobody wants to do a musical salute to disco...)
Re: 60s Redux...
Pretty sure Cleo was born in the late 50s.....

Re: 60s Redux...
I think you'd have to at least become a teenager in the 60s in order to be considered part of the 60s generation (musically speaking). I don't think that Jim qualifies.

I do. Born in 1954, turned 13 in 1967. And was a member of the DJ Club my freshman/sophomore years (we played the records for the dances/sock hops) in high school.Scooter wrote:I think you'd have to at least become a teenager in the 60s in order to be considered part of the 60s generation (musically speaking). Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: 60s Redux...
I was born in October of 1959. I was nine years old when Woodstock took place, and was too young to ever serve in Vietnam...
If you weren't old enough to go to Woodstock or face the Vietnam draft, you ain't 60's generation...
I discovered and developed an appreciation for "60s music" in the 70s; in 1969 I was listening to The Archies...
I was the same age as those portrayed in That 70s Show; I am 70s Generation...

Re: 60s Redux...
I was born in August of 1959, but had much older siblings and due to that influence consider my self more closely aligned to the 60's and it's music. All that means is I am much cooler than you are 70's boy.

I suppose at 14 I could have run away for a few days and hitch-hiked to Woodstock if I had wanted to.Lord Jim wrote:I was born in October of 1959. I was nine years old when Woodstock took place, and was too young to ever serve in Vietnam...

Had I done something like, though, I think my Dad would have made sure I never saw my fifteenth birthday.....

And while the draft was winding down when I registered in 1972, the possibility was still there; there was still an American presence in 'Nam until 1975, if I remember correctly. Not to mention that one could still have been inducted, trained, and sent to Europe since the Cold War was still going on and occasionally showed a hot-spot or two from time to time.

Well LJ, how about those who were old enough to go to Woodstock but couldn't afford to leave their jobs and country to go to Woodstock but saw the movie and bought the LP?Lord Jim wrote:.. If you weren't old enough to go to Woodstock or face the Vietnam draft, you ain't 60's generation...

Couldn't face the draft... you had to be a USian to do that. I was busy demonstrating against Vietnam and hurling old pennies back at skinheads chanting "USA USA USA"

No all female 60's music review would be complete without Janis Joplin.

Re: 60s Redux...
Sorry to be late here, but Tati CAN NOT do a 60s musical/dance revue without Martha and the Vandellas. I will not permit it. In fact, this MUST be the opening number.:

I'm with Sue on this one. Best version of a great 60's dance song.

Re: 60s Redux...
Aside... LJ, why is your daughter graced with the name of a French and mostly silent comedian?

That is simply because you have impeccable musical taste.Long Run wrote:I'm with Sue on this one.
