No...

If the name of the series had been, "Jackass Carter"....

I could see your point... 8-)

Mrs Mc is hooked on several newer shows with "kick ass" female leads. Agent Carter is one of many. I like it for all the old cars. The DVR is still set up to record them. I'll have to see if there is a new one to watch.

We watched the two hour season opener last night...really good stuff...

Without giving plot spoilers, I can tell you that if you like shows with females that kick-ass, Season Two gets right into it in the first five minutes with a major display....

Also a great quote:

When she's asked, "Are you going to punch all of LA?" Peggy replies, "I might. I could do with a hobby"...

The Marvel TV franchises have an impressive record when it comes to round house kickin', head buttin', karate choppin', Ninja-move ladies who can shoot with both hands...

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D has three; number one of course being Agent May, but also Agent Morse, and Sky/Daisy, (she didn't start out as an ass kicker, but she certainly has developed into one)

MG, I don't know if you have Netflix, but if you do, your wife will love Jessica Jones ...(another Marvel show) she's pretty much the ultimate in female ass-kicking characters...

And while we're on the subject of female characters that kick ass, I understand that one of my favorites is returning to Person Of Interest; Sameen Shaw, (Sarah Shahi)

Image

She and Root (Amy Acker) make a great ass kicking pair:

If there's an ass kicking female anywhere in the five boroughs of New York, sooner or later Finch and Reese seem to meet up with them...

And of course no discussion of ass kicking female TV characters would be complete without including the original, upon which all the rest have been based:

Fortunately, her finger is not on the trigger. Of the gun.

LJ - your memory is going... original my butt!

She was the first regular female partner of John Steed following the departure of Steed's original male co-star, Dr David Keel (played by Ian Hendry). She made her first appearance at the start of the series' second season in 1962.

Ming-Na Wen. All 53 year old women should look this beautiful. Sigh! She really gets my juices flowing.

It's just a contrivance to pander to the teenage boy, wank fantasy, target audience, without offending the feminazi brigade.

And you fell for it.

Okay, well, "definitive" then...

You know it's funny, I don't remember ever seeing an Honor Blackman episode...(of course we all know what role she is most famous for...) Diana Rigg of course, and even her very forgettable successor Linda Thorson...

But not Blackman...I guess that for whatever reason, those episodes were never much shown in syndication...

I was thinking that maybe she only did one season, but I checked on IMDB, and actually she was in almost as many episodes as Rigg; 43 versus 51...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054518/ful ... cl_sm#cast

Yet Diana Rigg's character is considered the quintessential Steed partner, while Blackman is virtually forgotten...

"That bird from "The Avengers" died in a crash the other day."
"Honor Blackman?"
"No, on a motorbike."

- an amusing compilation of bits

Just for you LJ. It was sensational news in the UK that Honor Blackman was leaving the show and some unknown called Rigg was going to replace her.

"Can't be replaced" - "I'll never watch again" - "What is the world coming to?" and so on.

The best current show with an ass kicking female lead is Madame Secretary! Tea Leone rocks that roll and doesn't have to jiggle her boobs or wear tight black leather to prove it!

Had not heard of it til now. Very out of the loop with respect to TV. I suppose it is wrong of me that I do not find these little women as very realistic kick-assers. Even a Venus and Serena sized woman is not a match for a same sized man's physical strength.
