That's an interesting question wes, I've been wondering that myself...

I've been thinking that perhaps Jarl might, (though I am in no way asserting that as a fact)...

Of the Republican and/or conservatives on this board (besides yourself and Dave) myself, Meade, Long Run and lib...

Meade has made clear that he won't vote for Trump, but isn't sure he could bring himself to vote for Hillary...

I've made pretty clear where I stand... 8-)

I have a hard time believing that Long Run would vote for Trump; he seems like such a sensible fellow...

I have no idea where lib stands on the subject...

BTW, I see where today Trumpty has called Cruz, "nasty" and "strident"...

He's right of course, but being called "nasty and strident" by Donald Trump is like being called ugly by a Ferengi...

If you looked up "nasty" in the dictionary, you'd see a picture of The Trump-thing's beet red piggy-eyed face scowling back at you...

Being a Trump supporter is kinda like being a jock strap. You give confidence to a prick.

Quite right wes, my apologies oldr...

He's another one I would think would be too sensible to vote for Trump, but of course I could be wrong...

I've made clear that Trump is a really bad idea. Beyond the normal, legitimate complaints, consider two over-riding concerns:

1. We've suffered through 16 years of really lousy presidents. Even bad POTUSes do a few things well, but the last thing we need is a president who will almost certainly be a failure and will have no respect from anyone of either party or from any other country, from the first day. I am philosophical about HRC for this very reason; if she holds on and wins, she won't be worse than the last 8 years.

2. Bush and Obama, while they gave lip service about bringing the country together and both had their honeymoon period where the opposition was somewhat muted, ultimately both caused much of the division and acrimony that is so prevalent. You want the country to take a heavy dose of steroids to further divide people from day one -- elect Trump.

Not really, though I find him (marginally) more palatable than most of the field. Would I vote for him in November? Probably.

Really Jarl? Why? Palatable or not, he's the biggest liar and a repulsive bigot. It'd be a difficult choice if it were him or Hillary come November - can't slide an EZ-Wider between them but....

I accept your apology, but none was needed. :ok

I lean to the conservative side (smaller gov, individual freedoms/liberties, fewer taxes, less/no gov subsidies be it for oil companies or Iowa corn/ethenol growers, hands off my gun....), but am aware of social issues and how the gov needs to play a role. I do think the gov over reaches in that regard (IMHO).

Trump has brought some issues (refugees, illegal aliens, open borders, etc) to the forefront, if only solutions would be discussed rather than one line sound bytes.

I have wondered what the nation would be like being led by a businessman. I don't think Trump is that businessman.
I will vote against Hillary or Berney (or Omalley?) but I do hope I have someone to vote FOR. Reagan was the last presidential candidate I truly voted FOR. And even then I did not become a "standard bearer" for him like wesw is for Trump. I prefer to sit back and soak up as much info as I can then make a decision.

The way I see it now is the repub machine has been going after Trump and nothing has stuck to him (2nd coming of the teflon Don :nana ) nor taken him down. With Cruz gaining/passing him in Iowa, now that R machine is thinking Trump is better/more able to work with them than Cruz. Cruz won't work with anyone on any side of the aisle.

Rubio is sitting back picking up the crumbs if there are any. He may be the end game.

All the rest are done. They should save their money and go home.

But what do I know? I know the country is not doing well right now. The 5% unemplyment is an illusion. They don't count the millions that have given up. And any job gains that were made were "quantity" jobs not "quality" jobs. I fear "quality" jobs are being eroded just like the manuf jobs have eroded the past 20+ years. Even engineering, comp sci, IT jobs are being outsourced and H1B visa's are replacing home grown talent. I fear for my children and grandchildren (if we ever get the grandkids, no rush son and daughter).

The only thing good right now is low gasoline prices, but even that has a down side. The fracking/shale oil boom is now a bust with tons of people being put out of work and some companies on thier way out. Congress needs to make it so the US companies can export oil. Too much to think about right now.

Let it snow, let it snow let it snow. :D :)

wes--to be fair, while I have said that a Trump presidency would not be the end of the US, I would never support him or pull the voting lever for him. Trump would paralyze the system unless he would galvanize Congress against him (overriding every veto), be impeached and removed from office, or killed. Someone with a better idea of how to get things done in the federal government could do far worse, but IMHO Trump's personality is his own worst enemy; and for those who think Trump may appoint some of his more intelligent and savvy advisors, I think he is now believing his own BS and would only appoint people as asinine as him. In no way am I a Trump supporter.

I just said that you were reasonable about the effects of a trump win, in other words you were one of the few who had not set their hair on fire.

Trump goes to Muscatine today.
RAGBRAI (the big Iowa bike ride) goes to Muscatine on July 30th.
Guess which one is going to be better for the town?
