STOP HATE; DUMP TRUMP

Statement of Purpose:
  • ● To call out Donald Trump for his hatred, misogyny, Islamaphobia, and racism and to give platform for the voices of the silent majority of Americas who do not and will not stand for it.
    ● To put the media and political institutions on notice that they are accountable for normalizing Trump’s extremism by treating it as entertainment, by giving it inordinate and unequal air time and by refusing to interrogate it or condemn it.
    ● To inspire a collective awakening of people across all spectrums of the US to speak out and create actions to end hatred and inject values of respect, inclusion, love, and equality back into our national politics and to join and support the many existing groups already doing this work each and every day.
    ● To let people across the world know there is another America that Trump does not represent or speak for and we will not be silent anymore.

Now, I grant you that many of the people you will find listed are mostly Hollywood celebs who generally will lean Democratic anyway, but let's face it — they've pretty much nailed it in their first sentence in the above-cited 'Statement of Purpose'.

well first, they don t lean left.

Hanoi jane and the rest don t lean left, they lean communist

harry Belafonte, jane fonda, Michael moorer , rosie o donnel, Rosanne barr et al are not gonna convince anyone of anything that they don t already believe...

...well, they might fool the college kids, but I doubt it. Bernie has them covered.

second, in that first sentence I see only one accurate charge...., islamaphobia.

and there is good reason for islamophobia, so I am fine with trump and with the group, they only help him.

I am not fond of liberal Hollywood. Although disgusted by Trump as well I am as amused as hell by the high pitched liberal squeal of fear this represents. Hardeehar.

don t these folks see the hypocrisy?

the public does.

first , bush makes a big deal about "you can t insult your way into the presidency, then he bases his whole campaign on doing just that...

then these celebs et al, are saying that he is hateful racist bigot misogynist, and say this with just the nastiest vile things. the venom and hatred just drips from your lips.

and people have insulted trump since day one, in the worst ways. hypocrisy. even the children wonder at it.

meanwhile trump is positive, when he puts someone down, he doesn t get mad, he doesn t get hateful, he just says what needs to be said in a straightforward fearless manner. if you don t like it, fine. it s a free country, right.

Calling Trump "the establishment candidate" is of course ludicrous bullshit, but you have to understand who Cruz's target audience is for that claim...

He's targeting Trump supporters, who by virtue of well, being trump supporters, have already demonstrated a high level of susceptibility to ludicrous bullshit...

I expect he'll peel off some votes with it just like Trump peeled off some votes with the "Cruz is a Canadian" bullshit...

Idiotic arguments can be effective when you're appealing to idiots...

And once again, Lindsey Graham nails it:
Lindsey Graham: A Trump Or Cruz Win Would Be Like 'Being Shot Or Poisoned'

WASHINGTON -- If business mogul Donald Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) win the GOP presidential nomination, Republicans will lose the 2016 contest, one of their former rivals, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), declared Thursday.

"The only way we lose this election is to nominate somebody who cannot grow this party’s vote among minorities, young women, and the coalitions we need to win," Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill. "If you nominate Trump and Cruz I think you’d get the same outcome. Whether it’s death by being shot or poisoning, does it really matter? I don’t think the outcome will be substantially different."

Not only would Trump and Cruz -- who have both staked out strongly anti-immigration positions -- fail to grow the Republican Party, they would turn away regular voters even more than Graham thinks Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton would, he said.

"Dishonest, which is Hillary Clinton in the eyes of the American people, beats crazy," Graham said. "I think Donald Trump’s domestic and foreign policy is gibberish. I think Ted Cruz has a reputation of being ideological to a fault, and that when it comes to problem solving, he will have a very difficult time proving that he is a problem solver."

"Dishonest beats crazy," said Graham, who dropped his bid for the GOP nomination last month. "Dishonest loses to normal. Just pick somebody normal. Pick somebody out of the phone book and we win."
Right on Lindsey...

I completely understand his angst...

He understands, (as I do) that Hillary Clinton is a very vulnerable and beatable candidate, (practically every poll that has been conducted confirms this) and he's exasperated (as I am) that despite this, the party could easily piss this opportunity away by nominating somebody who even Hillary Clinton could beat...

He's absolutely right when he says we'd have a better chance of winning picking somebody randomly out of the phone book than nominating either Trump or Cruz...

I don't think every single Trump supporter is an idiot wes, (some are people who are just so blinded by anger at "the establishment" that they are not thinking things through clearly) but clearly a very high percentage of Trumpanzees are in fact idiots...(or complete ignoramuses)

I saw a poll not too long long ago that had 69% of Trump supporters believing that Obama was born in Kenya, and a similar percentage that believe he's a Muslim...

And let's face it one has to be pretty damn stupid, (or at the very least have a deeply flawed understanding of reality) to believe that most of what Trump proposes is even remotely possible (let alone rational policy)

Mexico will pay for a wall on the US-Mexican border, there's some practical, realistic way to forcibly deport 11 million people, the way to fight the Radical Islamists is to ban people from entering the US based solely on their religion, and on and on and on...

There ain't a whole lot of rocket scientists that believe nonsense like that wes...

Whatever silver lining there is just might be that after November there's no more need to hear from Trump. Every single Trump supporter is either an idiot or an outright bigot for believing for a moment that he has any useful idea for "making America great again". He is a pair of trousers, a peaked hat and a right arm salute from revealing his true identity

And yet you want to give Trump a pass on his flagrant dishonesty....

Or do you think that Trump honestly believes that he'll get Mexico to pay for a border wall? Or that he honestly believes he'd be able to forcibly deport 11 million people, or that he could get his "ban all Muslims" policies implemented?

BTW, there's one group of Trump supporters that are not stupid, angry or misguided...

These are the people who have a personal finacial interest in supporting Trump:

People like Anne Coulter, or Laura Ingraham, or Rush Limbaugh, who support Trump so they can get the Trumpanzees to buy their books or boost their radio show ratings...

Or some of the commentators on the cable news channels that want to get lucrative contracts from the Trump campaign for their consulting businesses...

Or people drawing handsome salaries on Trump's payroll....

These people aren't stupid, and they don't believe any of the bullshit Trump spews, and they couldn't care less whether he wins or loses...

They are pure, cynical opportunists out to fatten their bank accounts....

I question their morality, but I don't question their intelligence...

If you haven't "seen" blatant dishonesty from Trump, you're wearing great big blinders.

And @w, if you are on Facebook, please search "Berkeley Breathed's Bloom County" and review his last two strips. They will have you rolling! (I'll see if I can copy and paste them later, I think I need to be at a computer to do so)

Oh good, you saw them! Bloom County has been hysterical since he re-started the strip. Since he is self-publishing, he is doing a lot of work that night not make it past newspaper editors.

I absolutely recommend that anyone who loved Opus and Bill and the crew in the past check out the current strips. He posts daily at 7AM on Facebook (and I think also on Twitter), and then is posted with about a 2-week delay on gocomics.com
