Kneedy Meade
Kneedy Meade
May your knees be like new after tomorrow. May your pain be well controlled. You will hate your physical therapist but do what (s)he tells you to do anyway.
Good luck and keep us nosy folks informed.

I didn't realize tomorrow is the big day...
Good luck General; I hope you don't clank too much...
(Now get yourself over the movie thread so that you can acknowledge that I got the right answer and we can move along...)

Re: Kneedy Meade
Good luck. My wife went to stay with her sis for the week after her knee surgery (she returned just a week ago).
The pain only kicked in 2 days after when the block has worn all the way off and the inflammation got going. So have some good drugs. And uh opiates really stop traffic on the old alimentary highway so have something ready for that too.

Best wishes, and I hope you will be regaling us soon with all the gory details (well, maybe not the alimentary ones so much...).

Aw, I'm truly touched. That's my story and I'll repeat it in court. MajGenl.Kneed - I like it. Captain Ibid - I like that!

Good luck Meade, want me to pray for you?

Re: Kneedy Meade
good luck, meade.
you ll get thru it.
just try not to get too grouchy.
pain and grouchiness go together .
I have been blessed and have come to a sort of peaceful acceptance, which replaced a hardened steel way of dealing with it.
...of course I had watch the hard steel shatter before I got to where I am.
honestly, it is still a battle for me, or within me. idk.
you probably already have dealt with it too.
but new pain brings new challenges.
opiates are one of those challenges.
for what it is worth, I would recommend that you use a shorter acting one like Percocet and avoid a longer acting and more effective one like methadone. Percocet can be taken as needed, while methadone is usually prescribed as regular dose that builds up in your system.
I would STRONGLY recommend that you always take breaks and allow the meds to completely leave your system.
Percocet leaves after three days I think. begin this after the first week of meds.
start with a 3 day break, then take a four day break next.
the body changes chemically without these breaks. it adapts to the meds.
withdrawal is bad if your body becomes too accustomed to the opiates.
somebody quote this? please.

You'll be back up on your hands and knees in no time!
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Best of luck, Kneade. It's never half as bad as you anticipate it to be. It won't be long until you're hopping around like a kangaroo. Or at least walking like one.
Re: Kneedy Meade
Cheers Kneade, you'll do well I'm sure. My cousin just had one replaced and said it really wasn't too bad - of course he's only about 25 years younger than you.
But truly, it will be fine and like @w said, do ALL that the therapist asks - you don't want to waste the effort by failing to do adequate PT.
Feel better soon!

I was going to pray for you, but it appears as usually I am a little late.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

Best wishes, MajorGeneral sir. A quick and successful recuperation is wished to you so that you can once again take your place in command of the troops.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Re: Kneedy Meade
Yeah, standing up be goal 1. Not screaming Goal 2. Maybe that should be 1? Wouldn't you know it - snow snow snow this a.m. - worse so far this winter. TV stations going berserk - it's SNOWING! Schools closing all over. Wife out shoveling the driveway (didn't 'shovelling' used to have more than one L?). To hospital at 10:15 so better leave at 9:15.... no coffee... no breakfast... bummer! You folks stay warm, y'hear?

All the best meade.
And FWIW, scream all you want when you first stand--yell, scream, punch the wall, whatever it takes. And get walking again soon.
